Well with this week's release of Episode 20, we are given the 2nd opening and ending theme. I kinda like the whole crazy look of it but the song could've been much better. You be the judge. Honestly, It doesn't bother me at all ;p. Mello,Takada,Near and Mikami are in it. The 2nd ending theme is way better but already shows *** but oh well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbRkmBcVWlc - 2nd Opening : Seeing a bunch of Raito Yagami Heads made me lmao. stupid but funny

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDtUZ0_MiWA - 2nd Ending.
The 2nd opening and ending didn't seem bad since it went along with the vid really well. Not the type of music I'd listen to normally, but then again I never listened to the first opening and ending music as well outside of the anime. Most people aren't liking it mainly because of the major change in genre. I will admit it is different, but it is still tolerable. The insanity shown does fit Death Note, though. I like it.

Although, the mentality of the music does seem to indicate that the anime may keep the insane manga ending.

EDIT: Chato, I think you'd better put the part I deleted in a spoiler to avoid
Spoiler:
ruining the already popular L's death for even more people. Most of the people who found out beforehand, like myself, did not intentionally wish to find it and wish we never knew.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Downloading the new OP and ED themes, because I'm a bastard.

I liked the new stuff. The OP's song wasn't really something I expected at all, but the editing was very fucking awesome. I have high hopes for the Devil May Cry anime now, seeing as how Madhouse apparently went all the fucking way with Death Note.

The 'lolling' Lights in the OP were awesome. I originally thought the vid was a fake, made by somebody from 2chan. Then I realized that the animation was too good for some amateur to have made for a cheap laugh.

Any news on the domestic DVDs? This, like the manga, is one of the few series' I'm interested in collecting in it's entirety, although I haven't been keeping up with the weekly episodes at all

There's no release date for it yet. Viz plans to release the anime
as "Download to Own and Download to Rent formats" when the anime is done in japan. It's the first time anyone is pulling that kind of idea.

I too been slackin off on the manga. I need 8 and 9. Another good thing is How To Read Death Note will come to the US. Only natural that it happens.

Not quote, the Japanese have just recently let that idea fly.
They don't like the idea of people being able to download the stuff. but just recently they have allowed American market to do it.
ADV has already set up to where you can by anime episode by episode, granted they don't have a mass amount of items up yet, but they are making their way... http://www.advuniverse.com/allprods.php
Its an interesting concept, i believe they are offering a few for free, as promos, right now...
But from what i understand of the Death Note download thing, they will have only dubbed available for download, much like what ADV has...but its still an interesting. Id like to see the way it pans out...but i also like having my physical media

Is it just for me or has something happened to Animanda? I can't seem to be able to download any of their stuff at the moment. I got episode 18 okay last week, but now their episode 19 just gives me an error message.

Maybe I'll try again a little later........

I've only got to volume 9 of the manga now, waiting for volume 10 to arrive in the next week or so. It's still an interesting read, but it's definitely gotten less exciting from the earlier volumes. I guess I won't truly be happy until I've read the last volume at #13, whenever that'll be....

The new OP is better than the old OP. Not by much, but it's definitely better than that shitty and whiny sounding shock rock music.

I gotta agree with you even though i don't like either of the songs. The new OP is definitely better, even though you'll never find it on any of my playlists....

Its a pretty intense song though seriously. I like held my breath through the whole song...

Is it just me or did anybody else laugh during it? Espiecally when the song ended and the advertising lady in a monotone was like Kono ban ewa proudo sponsa de o kolo she mas(i think thats what she says...)

Ya... hilarious...

The contrast was kind of funny between that insane deathrock song and the calm anouncer lady. Her saying "grand sponser" has always cracked me up.

The new opening animation is cool but I don't like the song, all the intense screaming.

It's like a mix of cannibal corpse and system of a down tinged with the angsty repetition and screaming of nirvana. I really like it.

Been watching Kuro-hana subs, and as much as they often FAIL HARD there's a blinking green bar that wipes itself across any media player I try to use.

Is there a remedy to this?

Download c-1 or animanda's version. Both groups are the most trustworthy and 2nd to TW and LiveEvil.

Sometimes I wish I never read the manga and much rather seen the anime first. Im not all hyped up about it like I used to be ;p. It's always a first time.

Ar first I disliked the new intro, however upon further review I agree it kinda fits and it's not that bad. Hell, now I can't stop listening to it. D:

I almost feel the same way about it too now. First time I heard it, I instantly told myself I never wanna sit through that again. It is kinda cool I suppose. However, I can stop listening to it.

I second that agreement. The only thing I can do now is laugh more and enjoy all that fastpace scene. Not to mention the word "fucker" being used XD. And hey, I didn't see Matt anywhere in that OP!

So everyone, with episode 22 out. We're almost at the end of the Yotsuba case and of course the main turning point. Will anyone care to keep watching the 2nd part of this? I asked this because back then (When the chapters were new) people bitched about how this and that happened. Some find the 2nd arc boring while others just stopped at the Yotsuba arc 'til they all heard how the story ended.

I will keep a good watch on this anime cause you never know what the ending will be like (maybe the same shit or extend a few things and go deeper than what the manga showed in the final chapter so alot of fans can just rest in peace and not complain) . Sure, I was disappointed for what happened but that didn't stop me from reading it. Maybe it was cause I already figured that Light was going to get his when the other two main characters were added. Besides, it felt more action packed than the whole first arc (yotsuba arc included). At least that's how I feel and will keep on watching.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yes, I will continue watching it. Only a few more episodes to go, so it's not killing any time I have. I do expect good things, though. Or so I am hoping.

With the number of remaining episodes they have left, I think they will cut down on the boring parts. Unlike Naruto, Death Note doesn't copy the manga word for word and scene for scene (for example, the manga version showed a lot more discussions with the Yotsuba and even what many of them were thinking, as in the manga they skip most of it or cut it very short. It would have probably been boring and/or felt dragging if they left those parts in anyway), so hopefully that area will be better.

I'm also curious on how dramatic they will make the "turning point" in the anime version.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I didn't really like episode 21 that much. I guess, like chato mentioned, reading the manga before hand has made the anime that less interesting. Some parts are still good, and animation almost always enhances a story, but lately it's gotten a bit boring....

But episode 21...
Spoiler:
....when Higuchi is revealed to Misa as being the new Kira, there was no sense of surprise like in the manga. It was like everyone knew before hand. When we knew that Rem was talking to the new Kira, I'm sure many people just knew who he was.

...well....maybe everyone who read the manga would feel that way...

I always expected this one orchestrated theme song by a famous musician. Some animes have a way of letting that happen (like with kenshin leaving Kaoru or Moonlight Sonata in Speed Grapher). Don't think that I didn't have any songs playing while reading the manga ;p. Otherwise it'd be boring. The OST for the anime isn't so bad either but Im getting a little tired of the same theme song coming up after a crazy moment between Yagami and L.

@ hikarub

Spoiler:
I never really reacted all that big when Misa revealed herself to Higuchi. What I was more hyped up was when Higuchi was going crazy and driving all dramatically to get to the Sakura TV station to kill Matsuda when he wasn't even there. Then of course the infamous climax to who the book goes to next

I think the Opening sequence is done flawlessly, the shock value and mockery of human behavior within the series is brought out in relief.

The OP reminds me of the style of Naruto and Bleach second season....totally the right thing to do....

I actually didn't mind the new OP at first, until they got to the whole fucker part. That just totally ruined what could have been an awesome song (though still not as good as the first OP).

I noticed the new OP was bashed a lot at first because it was J-Metal, but overtime I started reading many of those people say "actually, it's not that bad." What it comes down to is it was a major change music-wise, very intense. The song itself I'm not sure if I would listen to outside of Death Note, but because it goes along so well with the content occuring while the song is playing, it actually makes the song sound much, much better. I don't really know which one I like better since both of them cover the two main themes Death Note has (or will have), but the mood of the endings are somewhat similar.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Am i going to be the first to say i actually LIKE the new opening song? I think its totally sweet and gets me pumped for the show. That sounds kind of stupid i know, but even though its not the type of music i would listen to, i really love it for this show. I watch it every time because its catchy

The second anime OST was recently released, MU/torrent and mp3/FLAC links all here =)

I'm gonna have to jump the 'Hated it but its growing on me' bandwagon regarding the OP, but it's still really amateurish. I felt the same with the first OP and ED--they were good, but not stellar. The series is really lacking in the music department (there are some really good tunes on the OST but usually 1 or 2 get overplayed throughout the series =/)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
