ok now I'm pissed ... I knew that there's a spear that appear only if you didn't open some chest. I have the official guide and followed it to know which one I should not open... but at one time they said do not open the treasure chest in the southeast corner, there were two chest so I opened the one that wasn't in the corner...now I just found out that it was both chest that you must not open...I'm 6 hours into the game, I know it's not that much but I REALLY don't want to start over, so I'm asking: Is the zodiac spear really worth it? or I should just open all chest from now on and don't even care about the spear.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I thought the spear was worth it. It was the strongest weapon in the game and made the char who I picked to use it the strongest in my party

The spear is worth it. It is the first really powerful weapon you can get, and you can get when you're slightly more than half-way through the game.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Looking at the guide, it seems that you can also get it from a treasure chest from Henne Mines Phase Dig 2 (page 268).
Look at the map (page 142), it's the treasure chest N°15. It seems that with the Diamond Armlet equipped you have only 10% chance of getting it. The treasure chest respawn though, so you might be able to get it. Most amazing jew boots

ok I might try that, because I decided not to start over and open 3 other chest that I wasn't suppose too XD
anyway I had an hard time to get into the game (I have the game since the release >.<) but now that I past the beginning of the game and understand more the gameplay system, I have to say that the game is very enjoyable ^^ but after playing 50h in rogue galaxy, I just hate the "zone" thing XD There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
There is a 1/10 chance that the chest appears.
Then, a 1/100 chance that it has the spear. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
The spear is overrated. Not that it isn't insanely powerful, but, really, you can get by without it. Finding the Ultima Blade in The Pharos sub levels is a much less troublesome and acceptable alternative. Unless your going for complete perfection, don't obsess over it if you missed it.
Or you could go with the Masamune after the Gilgamesh hunt, buffs, and a cat ear hood and combo like mad. Point is, as far as heavy damage dealing end game two handed weapons go, the Zodiac Spear isn't entirely unique. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() so they may learn the glorious craft of acting from the dear leader |
But it certainly does deal a sufficient amount of damage, which helped a lot for people who were bad at levelling up. It sort of made up for the character with low attack, made it easier to get through the game at that. Of course, I probably could have beat the game without it, it just would have taken longer most likely. I know it certainly did more damage than my other weapons.
How ya doing, buddy? |
I find that the best combination for damage, is the Masamune Sword + Masamune gauntlet + Haste + Brave/Faith up + Berserk. I have Masamune equipment + gambits set to Bosch so that he does around 6 to 12 k damage per second, possibly more if I remember correctly. The Masamune Gauntlet paired with the Sword raises the chance of multiple attacks to about 90 percent.
Haste + Berserk is absolutely devastating with this equipment. FELIPE NO

I was never able to obtain the Masamune. I can't be arsed to level up to 70 for a weapon. (Gilgamesh might be easy, but the monsters on the way aren't)
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
If you've good gambit and strategy, you'll be fine.
I can do it just level 65. ![]() If you want to level up,it's quite easy opponent in Site 6 with 3 Embroidered Tippets(Just soake those bat with oil and cook them). ![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
![]() The game is fine without one of the SUPER weapons. If anything you will just have a slight bit more challenge than someone who goes through the trouble of acquiring the weapons. As Marina above mentions, rely on gambits and maneuvering and you will do fine. The Masamune combo makes the game unbearably easy. If you do decide to try to get the Masamune...be warned that there will actually be...2 or 3 battles with Gilgamesh. The first and second battle is simple...however Gilgamesh can be stolen from at these times and I believe its in the second battle with him that you will be allowed to steal the Masamune Gauntlet, so don't pass it up! Without the Mas. gaunt, the sword is not nearly as good. Though, I don't blame you for not wanting to beat him. He surely tested my patience...but damn was it a major rush! There's nowhere I can't reach.

To the poster above, they're called Genji Gloves, not Masamune gauntlets. Also, to steal different items from Gilgamesh, just steal after every scene where Gilgamesh does something, like taunt you or brandish a new sword. Try and steal all the genji equipment as it's not difficult; it's your only chance to acquire them. To have a much easier time with Gilgamesh, fight him when your character levels are not divisible by 2 and 3; basically have it at a prime number like 53, 59, 61, 67, 71 etc. This is because Gilgamesh frequently casts the status spells Lvl 2 Sleep, Lvl 3 Disable and Lvl 4 Break. Being immune to their effects basically means he's just wasting time casting while you're physically pounding on his sorry ass. And if you're any sane, set your gambits to attack the lowest lvl or lowest max hp enemy so you take out Endiku the hound first. His crushing fangs can randomly instantly kill a hero and he's just a pesky pain in the ass. Gilgamesh will be casting spells nearly half the time, so he's not really a worry until you take out Endiku. Gilgamesh will start comboing a bunch when low hp however. Before that happens, he'll probably put up Perfect Defense, which makes him temporarily immune to both physical and magical damage. And yes, remember to continue stealing from him after each mini cutscene, not including the times when he does a special attack on you.
And yes, Masamune is a really good with genji gloves. In fact it pumps out more dmg than Zodiac Spear at high levels when combos are taken into account, but not quite as good as the Wyrmhero Blade :3. Can't beat its 130 attack rating and a 80% combo rate compared to Masamune's 93 Attack and 40% combo. Bad thing about the Wyrmhero Blade is that you have to beat Yiazmat and Omega Mk II, the two toughest monsters in the game, to get the loot to make it... Also the Wyrmhero Blade IS SLOOOOW as hell, being more than twice as slow as a gun. It's nearly useless if you don't have the hero using it hasted AND berserked. Really, getting it is just for fun and accomplishment's sake. There aren't any monsters that you can't take down in a few hits out there if you already beat Yiazmat, so the blade is really just useless by the time you get it. Always something nice to brag about though XD This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

To the poster above, thanks for the correction and btw good tips on facing Gilgamesh.
The Wyrmhero blade has a 80 percent combo rate? Damn. What I like about the Masamune blade is the fact that damage is increased greatly by both Faith + Brave. Magic and attack both effect the damage output of the samurai sword. Its not uncommon for the Masamune to do 6K to 9999 damage per hit with the right gambit. Its also very swift. In this case, and because of its speed, its quite a bit more useful than the Wyrm blade. Its a whirling dervish of blading frenzy! I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I have a problem with a hunt
I want to start the nidhogg hunt so i have to speak with Aekom. But he doesn"t talk about a hunt he just say something like. "When will the mines open again, i ask. we are the parivir guards to all who work the mines ! If they do not work, we do not eat, bhadra. And i am all ready in giza plain rains. And i"ve killed 6 hunts What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
did you check the bill board first? you have to check the hunt first and after you have to go talk to the guy that posted it to accept the hunt

Anyone still playing this? I'm supposed to be going to Ridorana, but my attention's been with doing all the hunts that I haven't done, as well as getting as many Espers as I can. My main party is on lvl. 82-83 and I have almost all of the 'ultimate' weapons. I just took on the

...I had abandoned this game for a long time to play LoZ:TP...which I abandoned for a long time to play GTA:VCS...which I also abandoned to play GGXX#Reload...but then I finished VCS and TP so now it is time to finish FFXII. I just opened up the rest of that jungle area so I gotta get through. I'm gonna have one hell of a time readjusting to this game >.<

I recommend abandoning it for Odin Sphere, and then perhaps picking it up again when DQIX is released - you know what to do there

I have to agree that the story of FFXII is pretty weak, probably the weakest part of the game. But then I expect that from the team who made FFT, I don't think they ever made a game with a story that I found worthwhile. I do enjoy most the characters though so that's at least a step up from FF8 and 9. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
