IIRC he is weak to ice, so i had two ranged attackers using magick while i had another healer. I think i was in my low 30's when i took him out as well so just keep at it and soon enough he will fall. if you need to at the end of the fight have two people healing and buffing while just one attacks. Or maybe he was weak against lighting and used ice attacks, shit i can't remember, but its one of the two, and with doing so you should be fine with him. ( if you have reached the Jahara be sure to buy and equip the ice shields)

Yea he is weak against lightning and he absorbs ice. But he casts a lot of ice spells. So you could have one ranged attacker/healer, then another person to cast the lightning (at this point you should be able to have thundaga i believe) and another melee attacker if you want who will draw the majority of the attacks. Although I believe gil snapper will start to chase your magic user so just keep running around with him allowing your other two to deal free damage. Also like I said before since he casts blizzard spells you should have the ice shield from the jahara since it cuts ice damage in half, and always stay buffed as usual.

Have lots of gambits set to healing spells and/or status removing items. Move the character you're controlling away from the other two, so he can't nail all of you in one shot. Personally, I berserked Fran and did the above so he kept focusing on her, while the other two healed. Haste+Berserk = Decoy status without the spell cast.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Berserk increases attack and attack speed considerably, Bravery boosts the former and Haste boosts the latter. Throwing Bravery+Berserk+Haste nets you an uber-offensive character (and as I said before, an awesome decoy).

Question, what's the use of the crystals and magicites in your loot screen? Are they needed in the future? For equipment/item creation? Or Esper boosting? etc..?

Yeah, the crystals and magicite are actually used in certain item/weapon crafting recipes. Magicite for lower end equipment, crystals for the better stuff.

The bazaar option in shops, that's how you make items/weapons in this game. Sell the required items in the appropriate quantities and it'll become available in the shop. For example, to get the best bow you need:

- 3 Beastlord Horns
- 3 Moon Rings
- 4/5 Sagittarius Gems

Sell those and a notice will pop up that something new is available in the bazaar, that item being the Saggitarius.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

just an advice - get all the monograph (if you wanna get THE loot rather quick ) specially for the dragons one cos the moon ring is a pain in the ass to get it drop without monograph - having the mono done you can get any of those rare loots REALLY easy.

Good luck

I've been playing this during the downtime. All I have to say is fuck you, silver liquid. I'd been playing without one, but I recently borrowed my friend's guide to the game right around the point of The Great Crystal. I figured I'm close enough to the end of the game, if I want to do some of the optional bosses, mainly Espers, I want to save the frustration of running around aimlessly for hours.

So, I'm looking through it, I'm reading the bazaar recipes section. I realize my gun for Bal is pretty outdated and my ammo options in general are limited. So, I should gather up some ingredients! All that was needed was four ring wyrm scales, gathered those pretty easy, a handful of a certain crystal, and, let's see here, I need five silver liquid.

So I scour the enemy list. Only three enemies in the game possess it, none of which I've fought so far. I have just defeated the boss in the way to get to the deadlands, however, so I'll try for Foobar in that area. You can't steal or poach it from Foobar, he only drops it. He does not show up with any regularity in the area either. After awhile and no drops, I gave up on that idea for the next monster on the list. The Oiling.

Oilings are said to be found in the still shrine. I didn't run into any my first time through, and when I re-explored the area, still nothing. I didn't see them anywhere.

Okay, there's still one more option, Hecteyes. Hennes Mines. I know he's not around the main entry, but on my trip through the Feywood, I ran across an alternate entrance that I quickly fled from upon seeing a level 60+ bat wandering around. It's my last option, so I had to check it out. Tough fight against the two absteels only to find out that entrance is a complete dead end.

Apperently, the extra areas of the place are accessed from a gate opened once you have ten or more espers. I was sitting on two at the time. So before I get to Hecteyes, I have to kill eight more espers. Absurd.

Back to the still shrine. These sons of bitches have to be in here somewhere. I at last find a hidden area along the wall of the long hallway leading into the room with the statue in it. I enter the room excited, positive that this must be it, Oilings must be in this room. Oh, they were there alright. So was the cheapest trap I've seen the game lay out yet. Unless you enter the room with float you hit a trap that massively fucks over your party with a ton of status ailments. So, I switch out my party to the non berserked, confused characters, and start my silver liquid collection process, which requires you to poach the enemy. These things appear in droves in this area. I'm poachin and poachin and poachin away. As Penelo is my lightest hitter, I let her have three thwacks to get them low enough, my other two characters are sleeping groups and warding off the silence and confuse spells these things like to cast.

They're giving me yellow liquid like crazy, no silver liquid yet. I had built up a chain around 30 before I poached my first silver. I let the chain build to around 65 or so and only took in two silvers over the whole process but 85 yellows!

On my way out, right after I used the way stone, there were these floating reaper like enemies that surrounded me right off the bat. I do the normal attack routine on them, but after a second I realize that my characters are dying because these things are formidable and I forgot to turn gambits back on from the whole Oilings episode. I decide to try to flee, but the group of them warps right to me, whacks the hell out of one of my standing characters and death spells the other. At this point, I'm coming to the dread realization that the other three characters in my party are berserked and confused and that I am going to die and lose all that time it took me to get a lousy two silver liquids.

Somehow, I got out of it with only Balthier standing. Waited for his berserk to wear off, raised my five other members and fully healed and buffed even though I was only a short distance away from the exit and a crystal.

So, yeah, fuck you silver liquid. The gun and ammo became not worth it long ago, it's the principle of the goddamned matter now.

How ya doing, buddy?

So which gun did you end up getting/going for? I recommend going for the Fomalhaut that you get from the same room you defeat the Antlion in.

The fight was tough for me at the time, but the gun proved more than worth it (just defeat the boss, leave the area and come back and there's a chest where the Antlion was. Keep opening it (no armlets or anything needed) till you get the Fomalhaut <3).

Thanks for that tip. I tracked down that gun from your suggestion last night, it was really worth it. Although, the gun in the package wasn't the main draw of gathering those loot items for the bazaar goods, it was the ammo. Think I'm going to wait until I have some more Espers under my belt and the extra section to Hennes Mines opens. Hecteyes is suppost to be in that way and I can just steal the liquids from him instead of braking my back over it now.

The Foobars in the Dead lands drop the Silver liquid pretty often when i was getting them. I forget the names of the areas but from the save crystal just head south one screen and right down from the exit threre should be a foobar who drops. Just keep zoning and you should have plenty of liquid in no time. Also to get into the Henne you need atleast 10 Espers IIRC. Be careful with the Hectytes too, they are a pain in the ass if you don't have anything to protect against confuse.

I've neglected the forums for a good couple of weeks now because of this bloody game. My initial thoughts; I must admit I'm not as comfortable with the gameplay as I have been with the others in the series. But I can live with it (seeing as how I'm pretty over-levelled again at this point). I've just fallen into Barheim Passage and I'm at level 30. More to follow shortly.

I've just finished the game and it's the best FF ever!
The gameplay is great and the story isn't bad (although the male costumes're quite bad, lol). Many challenging boss and bazaar to be unlocked. The hunting is really great fun!

I still didn't finished all hunt.I'm collecting loot to unlock Tournesol and Sagittarius.

You can fight Foobars at the area where you fought the Esper at Garamsythe Waterway.
"Open the No. 11 Sluice Gate (i.e. turn off the No 11 Waterway Control).
Turn on No.3 Sluice Gate Control. This means about No.3 and No.4
Controls are on."

I think that the hardest one to gain loot are those Halcyon, it took me 30 chains to get it! I hate those weak monster interfereing.

I just finished my first run of the game...It's how I play...

And am now in the second run. I truly like this game. (X-Play gave it 5/5--a first for them)...

Anyway, the fights are actually fun. I mean, you can chain just by fleeing from enemies until you find the ones you were battling before. The Gambit system is a great idea. You will NEVER have the same party no matter how many times you play.

And changing equipment in the middle of a battle is wonderful!

And this time--I'm getting all the Espers and the Marks.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I finally finished the game a little while ago. I haven't wanted to stop playing regardless. Only esper I've yet to tackle is Zodiark. I have a main group of three at level 85 now. Most of the hunts are complete, I'm going after the Shadow Seer now. Was pretty surprised to find out The Pharos had a basement (didn't they make the place huge enough as it is).

I've gathered up all the magics and techniques. Two most prized bazaar goods I've got are the Durandal one handed sword and the Sagutarrius bow. Some of the requirements for other stuff is freakin' loony. I haven't gone looking for rare drops off of rare monsters or ran completely around the great crystal for the absolute best armor pieces just yet, but I may just be running out of things to do in this game yet, so.

Has anyone seen a complete map of the crystal anywhere, by the way?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Be careful when facing off against the Seer. He summons a very powerful Phoenix that will rape you if you're not careful. Even with my level 99 party, I barely managed to scrape by.

I guess I'll put off the last two hunts until after I beat the story then. I'm a little bored with running around to gather up loot at the moment and I seriously want to see how it ends now that I've finished up the story at The Pharos.
