Imagine that, you could actually watch a cinematic battle scene, and at the same time you would be building the very next scene by queuing commands of your character as in the teaser, you know like when she does "Firaga" and then "Shoot", those are actually queued actions in the command bar.

Those queued commands would be use to build the next sequence depending on many variables like the number, the position and the size of enemies, how they move, balance, char level, char mood, room size and room elements, environment, timing, random, etc, and with all that the white-engine-AI could generated cinematic-feel-battle-sequences similar to the one we saw in the teaser.

Now THAT would certainly add much more to the RPG/FF gender then just "better graphics", and would definitely be next-gen and a...“kinda-cool” I might add

No, people are arguing that the UI shown in the screenshots might not make it to the final product. You are arguing about the battle system, which is entirely different.

I think the UI mockup thing is right though. Okay, look at all the garbage on the screen. Do you think there's enough room for two or three other party member's stuff in there? The only thing I can think of is that they show the action queue / ATB bar for one person at a time, and execute accordingly. Don't know if I like that.

The only other thing I can think of are that there is no party members.

and for the "ennemy turn" maybe they act like in squad, so maybe there will attack like 3 or 4 at the same time (like in FFX there are some fish that sometime apear alone or in pack of 2 or 3 XD)

Well to me, from looking at the screens. It seems to be like an upgraded version of the FFXII battle. Though, without the arcs from enemy-to-player. And that menu is brought up by pressing the action button so that you can select the type of action to perform against the enemy or yourself (if it's a cure/restorative item).

I hope it's not going to be too damn futuristic. After seeing the train riding through a city I can tell they are planning on bringing that FF7 element back. I sure hope that's the case this time

they still can make turn battle like exemple:

each character and monster have they turn, and when it's your turn you have to enter a series of combo that you see excute in a cinematic still action, but that's just me saying that XD

but yeah I did really enjoy the turn base battle in FFX

and yeah soldier just imagine if they put in, 2, 3 or more character action combo! that would be insane!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Some notes courtesy of Duckroll:
- FFXIII might have online features, but it won't be the focus
- FF Versus XIII will not have online features
- The battle system for FFXIII will make use of both "time" (ATB probably) and "3D space" (probably meaning the battles take place within a 3D area that actually affects the gameplay)

I'm finding it really hard to actually like this female character considering when you look at the third scan in Jagged's post, it's like they pasted Cloud and Yuna's hairstyle together on her and changed it all to blonde.

I hope they flesh out that character a little bit before she becomes the final product in the game.

Somehow the plaid skirts remind me of a school uniform. I wonder if they're gonna have some sort of school/educational institution ala Balamb Garden (FFVIII), and in the Mobile Phone Game, you go out and fight monsters & stuff as 'assignments' and 'homework'.

I like how they brought back the Before Crisis Character Designer (Or was it Nomura adapting to a new style?) for the new cell phone game.

It's annoying how the mobile phone versions (Before Crisis, Agito XIII) get the most distinctive and interesting Nomura output while the main games get the regular ho-hum scribbles.

After looking at all those scanes (thank you for those), I'm almost convinced her name has something to do with Lightning. I know, I know, I hate to bring it up as I stayed out of the debate last time, but damn.

Every. Single. Image. from a battle has Lightning down there. It's clearly not a spell, since "Firaga" is in there. Only other thing I can come up with is that "Lightning" is a particular combat stance or active element such as one imbued on a weapon. Who knows, I suppose.

So Agito does take place in a school. I suspected that from that scan.

I was thinking the same thing, that for the battle, all of her attacks have an electrical status effect. Makes a bit more sense then for it to be her name.

So it IS Nomura's designs on the cell phone game huh? That's cool. I like how they confirmed what I suspected, and that it is based around a magical school.

Now that you mention it, I've noticed that some of the pictures say fire, blizzard and thunder. Wouldn't it be better to put thunder on that spot other than lightning if it is some type of elemental attack/status/stance or whatever.

SInce Fire and Thunder are grouped together like that, along with Blizzard, I would safely assume those to be spell names and nothing more. The "Lightning" is out of place, so it's definitely something other than a simple spell.

I belive it would be nice to have something shocking in a FF title like only one character. Maybe this female character would meet some people in her journey but they will stay in the party for a brief period of time. Going through most of the game on her own.

"Lightning" could be anything from an attack formation, element absorption, new unmastered spell, weapon entchantment to god-knows. I just don't think it's got anything do with a character name.
I wouldn't worry about her being the only playable character. In time, they'll reveal new characters. It's not a clever marketing strategy if they unveil all their secrets immediately. The prospects of some good relationships between her and some other characters is reason enough, despite her looking like a toughieloner.
