A lot of EBs have the policy of only hiring people who aren't knowledgable about videogames.

You know for those who still want to get thier hands on a DS Lite before June 11th, search the Sears website for the DS Lite. They have in-store pick up for selected Sears locations and you'll be able to get yours the same day. As for me, being that I overslept...I just can't bring myself to drive to NJ right now for a DS Lite.

Come to think of EB and it's stupid employees. Bastards over there sold me a used copy of Dark Cloud 2... That was a fucking demo disc.

So much for hiring smart employees. It's why i'd rather get a job at Gamestop... People seem smarter there.

It seems some stores thought June 11 meant June 1 or something.

Use http://www.frappr.com/dsliteavailability to find stores that are currently selling the DS lite.

I'm not surprised that they're selling them if they have them. I remember getting my GBA SP like a week early, and Gamestop actually called me to tell me to come pick it up. They probably don't care either way, since they're getting paid one way or another. They figure they might as well do it earlier if it's available, so they don't have to worry about legions of geeks swarming their stores on launch day.

I checked 3 stores near where I live, but to no avail. None of the sites posted helped out either. So I decided to reserve it at Gamestop. It's only a week wait anyway. Also, the employee said that any store that sells the Lites early are going to get some bad blood from Nintendo.

"Hi uh, what date are you getting DS Lites in?"
"I think it's the 22nd of June, but we're all booked out"
"You mean every DS Lite has been preordered?"
"Yeah and I wouldn't be surprised if all our other stores are booked out too"
"Can you check?"
"No, we're individually owned"
"Then why do you care if your other stores are booked out or not?"
"Just sayin'."

Bastards. It's not even worth $60 more than the original, let alone having the damn expense of finding somebody with them.

Aren't they priced the same as the original?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Unless the original just had a price drop, then yes.

A friend of mine imported Jump Superstars for his DS Lite. He says the game is a blast and is very easy to figure out despite the kanji. I've been tempted to get it myself, but I keep wondering if there's still a chance it'll come out in NA. He says it's impossible due to all the liscenses, but what do you think? Are the chances pretty much zero, or is there still a possibility?

Zero chance, SOLDIER. I'm not sure about the specifics, but I think in Japan the franchises that appear on that game are from the JUMP shonen company, whereas in America they have been licensed to different anime distributors, making it impossible for Jump to be released anywhere else in Japan.

It's like putting Master Chief and Samus in something like Super Console Bros. Brawl. Nope. Microsoft and Nintendo (no matter how much they deny it) are in competition with each other.

Back on topic, the DS Lite ain't being properly advertised here. I doubt anybody knows it's out yet -_-'

It's not the same price here, and that's all that matters.

The price of the DS Lite here will be $168 US, and to buy the original here, it's $118 US. You can see why I don't think it's value for money at that price.

Nintendo Australia never bothers to advertise anything though. Their last ad was ten hilarious seconds of low res MKDS footage blown up to full screen and some lady talking about God knows what. Probably waffle irons.

One of my mates bought one yesterday. Bloody hell it makes the original DS look like a freakin' Game Gear. The updated Brain Training demo that came with it still has problems with the Australian accent, though. ='D

What the fuck, they're out already?

http://www.gamesman.co.nz/product.php?id=6008

IN NEW ZEALAND?

Is this joke. I bet I'll phone them tomorrow and they'll be like "Yeah we have them." "Cool, can you hold me one?" "No ^_^"

I don't even have $270 right now. I'm a nice $170 short at the moment, which I could probably make up for if I sold my current DS, and that's not likely to happen since nobody knowing of the DS Lite will want it. I bet eb games will have a "$10 off with trade-in of original DS" special.

Double Post:
Phoned my local store today. They have plenty, they haven't sold many, and there isn't a huge demand for them. I asked them if I should hold one and they didn't seem too worried, and they told me to come in tomorrow and pick one up then because there'll still be plenty left.

Hmm, that's odd. I thought these would attract mass appeal now that they're out, but the demand and sale rate of them here is quite small. I don't exactly want a bright-as-holy-god white DS Lite, though. Still, it's probably the cheapest way of getting one.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Simple Question concerning DS/DS Lite

Is it region specific?

Once I am ready to pick up a DS I am seriously thinking of importing 1 or 2 games that havent come stateside. (Something I have never done before, so I'd like to do some research on what it is I need to do before I go about wasting any money)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

No, its not. There isn't any region locking on the DS systems.

And thank god, too. My Castlevania is from the states, half of my library is japanese, and my Sonic Rush was bought here. If they ever did, people would concuct a modchip so fast.

It's stupid to have region blocks on portables, even. The whole point is for them to be portable worldwide. Even though it can't be charged on a different voltage, having region protections would probably ruin DS importing.

I really don't understand this. Europe doesn't have DS Lites, yet Australia and New Zealand do?

This is a first in gaming history. I mean really. We've never had anything before europe. Perhaps the eye piercing white is too bright for those dull houses and lack of sun in areas like britain. lol eastenders

I'm going to see what different stores will give me for my DS. It's practically brand new and I really haven't touched it in a few weeks, perhaps after some talking I'll get somewhere.

It's probably easier to ship a few hundred down here than it is to ship almost a million over there. Also we do quite often get handheld games before Europe, since they usually don't bother translating each game into a million languages for us and give us the US version, being region free and all.

Hay guys. In a typical Nintendo move, they've removed something. The little wrist strap is now sold separately, but this thing's pretty fucking awesome. It's charging in the other room now, but I gave it a SPIIIIN with some stuff. The clarity and the COLOUR is awesome. And no dead pixels, which is rad, because I had so much drama with the original DS. SO MUCH. Oh and the Brain Training demo has no option for left handed rejects such as myself, so it's kinda pointless.

I r smart today.

Elixir is so fucking jealous. ;_;

How are the dpad and buttons in comparison? I haven't spoken to anyone who actually owns one, who doesn't go "lol this thing rox, man i cant explain it". I want one just for my imports, because my current DS has a grid touchscreen and it's pretty annoying.

They removed the wrist strap? Aww. Oh well. My import one had a wrist strap in the box.

The Brain Age demo seems whack. I'm always in the 80s in the demo in it despite staying around 20 in the daily age checks.
