I think Ryuk looks pretty badass, myself. I can always tell CG, no matter how good they try to make it, so as long as it moves and lip-synchs impressively I'll be happy. And from what I've seen, he does.

Can't wait to see it...I don't care if I have to watch a really crappy bootleg.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

A making-of was uploaded onto Youtube in two parts. It's unsubbed.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I want Mark "The Joker" Hammel as Ryuk in the dub, end of discussion.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

The director vids are okay. Can't really tell much without any subs. I bet the guy who plays L is having a blast. He gets to do all of his weird mannerisms.

I was one of the people who really liked Death Note all the way through until that certain chapter where most people seemed to stop all at once lol.Hopefully the movie is able to represent the manga in a respectful manner without having to ruin anything.

I've only read the first five English volumes. Good stuff here. I'll just stick with the American release schedule instead of downloading the scanlations. An Anime and Movie? I had no idea. Sounds good to me.

Yeah . It should be promising. Here's a vid to spice things up. Just scroll down and see how Yagami picks up the death note in the movie version. looks awesome lol. Definately a great acting from the melodramatic Tatsuya Fujiwara. Also, Ryuuku = Ratings

http://www.eiga.com/special/deathnote/index.shtml

edit : You also notice a small piece of work from Kenji Kawai's score. That must be Ryuku's theme

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wow! Ryuk looks amazing! I'm just going to assume that Ryuk's a little suspicious of Misa and that we're going to see Rem in the second movie.

Now that you mention it. I did notice how Ryuuku eyes just gotten all bigger when he looked at Misa and supposedly the Invisible Rem. Its really impressing how well the blended cg ryuku alongside with Yagami.

Supposedly Misa. Tsugumi Ohba wouldn't just end it with some random chick. Then again, Kira-sama is something Misa wouldn't say. Im not sure, no one knows really. Years did go by and they grow up. An awesome story to end in a boring way.. Still,

I haven't lol. Just waiting for a cam'd version somewhere on a torrent site. I heard alot of things are changed not just the ending but also Kira being more evil than what you see in the manga.

I found a nifty little synopsis on someone's LJ. You can read it here, but be warned: spoilers abound.

Some neat little tidbits:
- The movie runs around two hours and twenty minutes.
- If you don't like original characters, you're not going to like Shiori very much.
- The movie really only goes through the first volume and then a little bit of volume two, as evidenced by various clips and trailers.

I gave in and read some of the Shiori-related stuff, and while I feel like she's still a sorta cheap cop-out to pad out the movie, I have to hand it to the filmmakers: damn.

Just finished the manga (had to DL the whole pack from Isohunt).

Spoiler:
A tad disappointed with Raito's death. Somehow was expecting him to pull it off and establish as the ruler of that new order.

Can anyone clarify me about that procession in the mountain? Long line of people in robes or what not and carrying candles but what about that woman kneeling? Some kind of cult of Kira?

Spoiler:
I expected Light's death from the very beginning when Ryuk said that he'd be the one to write down Light's name in the Note.

It seemed to me like a Cult of Kira, that's all.

Spoiler:
Personally I think the ending was too rushed. It seemed like they just wanted it to end. It was really uncharacteristic of Raito to prematurely announce his victory that way, and not to ask Mikami to test out the notepad first (not to mention that there was no way anyone could create an exact replica of the notepad)... I agree that they really should have ended it after L's death, Mello and Near just couldn't compare to L.

Spoiler:
I wanted him to die anyway, There couldn't be a Death Note story without the other main character (L). It would only make sense that Yagami would die since all he's been going up against was just L (in his mind). The mello/near arc was alright. The ending was a bit rushed but i probably think Ohba was tired of it.

All we can rely on now is the Anime version. We already know that the movie is completely different so we'll expect something out of it. Though i think Yagami won't die in this one because its Tatsuya Fujiwara =/.

Tsugumi should have the right to change something in the end for the anime version coming this fall. A filler arc would be fine. As long as its L and Yagami working together ^^;.

Aside from story, I got the ost just now (thanks johen). The first few tracks were good but from there it started to pick up. Kenji put some Ghost in the Shell feel to it like the good ol days. He could've done alot better but i guess Fate/Stay Night and Higurashi took alot of him to try and work on DN's score. Overall, he has his moments with some tracks. He just needed to add that little ring to it in the beginning ;p .

So... any luck on a torrent ??

Damnit, I am officially an anime whore .. Reading the stuff now.

oh and...

ROFL... I love how Dani California is in the trailer. WHY??

Okay, so dani california is the theme song heh... why does that bug the hell out of me. Anyone agree it doesn't belong??

Jam it back in, in the dark.
"We Stole the Eagle from the Air Force, the Anchor from the Navy, and the Rope from the Army. On the seventh day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers, talk like sailors, and slap the hell out of both of them. WARRIORS BY DAY, LOVERS BY NIGHT, PROFESSIONALS BY CHOICE, AND MARINES BY THE GRACE OF GOD."

Yeah, Dani CA is the song only because WB is the one doing the releasing, methinks. The lyrics have absolutely nothing to do with DN or any of the themes in it:

Getting born in the state of Mississippi
Papa was a copper
And Mama was a hippie

In Alabama she would swing a hammer
Price you gotta pay when you break the
panorama

She never knew that there was
Anything more than poor

What in the world does your
Company take me for

Black bandana sweet Louisiana
Robbin' on a bank in the state of Indiana

She's a runner, rebel and a stunner
On her merry way sayin'
Baby watcha gonna

Looking down the barrel of a
Hot metal 45
Just another way to survive

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest

She's a lover baby and a fighter
Shoulda seen it comin' when
It got a little brighter

With a name like Dani California
The day was gonna come
When I was gonna mourn ya

A little loaded she was
Stealin' another breath
I love my baby to death

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest

Who knew the other side of you
Who knew what others died to prove
Too true to say goodbye to you
Too true to say say say

Push the fader, gifted animator
One for the now and eleven for the later

Never made it up to Minnesota
North Dakota man was a gunnin'
For the quota

Down in the Badlands
She was savin' the best for last
It only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess, I'm your priest
