I think there are really only two things to be extremely disappointed in:
1) Metroid Prime 3's release, but, then again, it's not like I'd rather them rush it. There will be plenty of other games to keep us all occupied until it finally comes out. 2) The prices of the VC games. If you still have an old NES or SNES around, you can just buy them used for about the same price Nintendo is offering, and I don't get to own anything, just the right to play it. I'd almost rather play with the computer anyway. The one exception for me is N64 since it's so hard to play those with a gamepad (and I don't have an adapter), but $10 is steep for a game that came out 10 years ago. Otherwise, I'm quite pleased with everything. 11/19 is perfect, the price is just fine (although I had wished they'd bundle a better game with it). The only other nuisance I can think of is the price of a second controller. I'm mostly a solo gamer, so I may never buy a second one until I absolutely need to. With the prices of games, you'll still get out of the store for 50% less than if you were picking up a PS3 (if you can even find one in stock anywhere), and a couple hundred less than you would for a 360 (assuming you don't get the core system). I'm quite excited. May have to take the 20th off from work (since when do game-related things come out on a Sunday?). There's nowhere I can't reach.

Damn, no HD support right away? They still have said nothing about audio. I mean if it supports video.. it has to support audio right? Gah. I called Gamestop down the street and they still aren't taking reserves yet. I really don't want to wait outside some store on the 19th. Looks like they will get a call everyday until then..
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
The only thing I can think of that would justify the SNES prices would be when the rarer games get up for grabs. Games like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Mega Man X2 and X3, Harvest Moon and Earthbound would be a steal at the price they have them set up for, even if you don't get to own the actual cartridge. You're still getting to play it on you're TV which will bring back the nostalgia for those who played them so many years ago.

Man, this really sucks if you don't own a gamecube to begin with....My wallet will be crying after this. But I want it.....Man, this is going to suck a lot to buy this.....but I really want it....DAMN YOU NINTENDO!
$250 - Wii Console $50 - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess $50 - Excite Truck $60 - Second Controller $30 - Gamecube Controller (Wireless of course) --------- $440 - Total *.* The price of everything seperate is actually not that bad (sans the Wiimote + Nunchuck) but Damn, this shit adds up to a lot....still beats the XBox 360 and the PS3 by a long shot....I'll have to steal my cousin's copy of Gamecube games, because that's another $30 increment for each game. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Super Smash Bros. Melee to keep me occupied until Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the next Mario Kart installment comes out. BTW, do we have any news about Mario Kart on the Wii? I was speaking idiomatically.

I know that you will not be able to save Wii games on Gamecube memory cards, but does anyone know if it can be done the other way around? Like saving gamecube games on Wii memory or SD cards? That would be pretty awesome, because I really don't want to buy another Gamecube Memory card.
Also, concerning Wireless Gamecube controllers. I haven't seen any pictures of the ports on the Wii. Will the Wavebrid contoller recievers fit on the Wii, considering they are allot more bulky than the plugins on the original controllers? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]()

IGN did say that wavebird plugins will fit on the Wii ports. I dont have a link but I KNOW I read that as for sure info.
BTW, why do you need to buy a GC controller?
As to audio support, Dolby Pro Logic II via RCA cables again just like GC. There is no optical-SPDIF-digital audio ports. Double Post: This is my take = $250 for a Wii $50 for ZeldaTP $60 for a Wiimote (or My First Wii game with packin controller) _______ $360 + tax for Wii Boxing/Tennis/Golf/Baseball/Bowling multiplay and Zelda That right there is enough to do to get you through the holidays. Most amazing jew boots ~ Ready To Strike ~ :Currently Playing: League Of Legends(PC), Skyrim(PC), Golden Sun: Lost Age(GBA), Twilight Princess(Wii), Portal2(PC), Dragon Warrior II(NES), Metroid Prime 2: Echoes(GC)

I need some Gamecube controllers for Smash Bros. Melee to quench my thirst until Brawl arrives.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Can't you just get the Classic Controller then?
Most amazing jew boots |
That's an interesting question. I think it only works with the VC or Wii games specifically designed for it, though (hard to call the Gamecube "classic").

Am I the only one who's even slightly scared by what they've said for REWII? I mean, from what i've gleaned of this, it has no story, and it's just a repeat of RE4's mercenaries mode.
I actually want a story, not another Outbreak. I'll give it a shot before i pass final judgement. At any rate, hooo, those prices look a little steep. Hopefully one of the jobs i applied at will respond soon, and i can justify buying everything i'll need to enjoy my Wii experience. Really looking forward to Zelda TP, and Excitetruck, at this point. Any news on Saddness? I haven't read or heard anything as of yet, but i could've just missed something. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I'm wondering how they are going to adapt the N64 games to the Wii controller. The Classic Controller looks to be the most obivous choice, but it doesn't have the 6 button set-up of the N64 controller. Mapping the C-buttons to the right analog stick? Works to a certain extent (I use a similar setup for emulation), but it's not ideal for many games...

Ahahahahahahahhaahha!
I got "the call" today. I recalled EB saying they weren't taking preorders yet on Zelda. I forgot I paid for the game in full in 2004. ![]() Lukage has 8 copies of Red Steel also on reserve. 8 @ 50 = 400 1 @ 50 = 50 $450 to spend. 250 - Console 50 - Zelda 50 - Red Steel 60 - Extra Controller (I have Wavebirds) 50 - Rayman ------- $460 plus tax. Considering I'd get like 4 games...I need another $100. I get paid Friday. Bam! I save my next paycheck for a plethora of VC. Finished. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
um they are.. many on the gfaqs forums have got the call
Nov 19th for wii Dec 11 for the cube(greedy ass nintendo) FELIPE NO ![]() |
I'm referring to any time prior to today. And technically, they aren't taking Wii Zelda preorders until Friday.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Could launch availability, such as a list of midnight launch parties, stores expected to have good stock, alternative places to look, places taking pre-orders and when they start taking them, etc. be added to the OP as that info becomes available? Seems like it would be useful info.

If there isn't a planned one, there will be a party held that weekend outside the store. It'll be nice. I'll get there so early that two lines will form. Wii. PS3. Although...the only...what, first 10 people for the PS3 line will make it worthwhile?

The system being region free is good, leaving the option for third parties to lock their games anyway isn't. Xbox 360's also region free, yet there's like two games that'll work on any system worldwide.
DS being region free combined with it actually being popular here has slowly forced publishers to rethink their prices. DS Games are $70, nearly double the price of what America pays, and it's not like our GST adds an insane amount. Hell, we're getting American games, they just slap an Aussie rating sticker over the 'E for Everyone' and try and hide the 'For sale in America, Cananananada and Mexico' part on the back with another sticker. But more and more local websites and independent game stores are stocking imported games for a fraction of the price. Why spend $70? We're now finally starting to see more $50 DS games come out, and while it's still pretty expensive, it's a start. I fully expect the likes of EA and UbiSoft to region lock their games, and continue with sloppy PAL conversions with no 60Hz option, featuring massive black borders and added screen tearing due to the shit refresh rate. Woohoo! I just got paid for Summer work.....$749.......good stuff, time for some massive sprees...

Wow the VC games are expensive.
I thought it would be something like: NES $1 Snes $2 N64 $5 What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
NES: $3-4 SNES: $7.50 N64: $12 So I was pleased with the prices. The NES games are a bit more than I expected, but the other two came in under my estimates, and I'm sure that most of my purchases will be for the SNES anyways. - WraithTwo - FELIPE NO |
For the most part, your virtual console isn't going to be for NES games. Unless you're feeling extreme nostalgia. You'll be playin N64 and SNES games for the most part. Possibly some Genesis too. But NES will probably quickly fall to oblivion except for the truly nostalgic.

I've been on the hunt for old games for the past few couple years, ebaying for classic games when I have extra money to spend now and then. I try to get "complete" contents of everything. Not trying to get everything at once, so it's been and will continue to be a slow process. I'm trying to think which games I'd get on the Virtual Console since I do prefer something tangible. It will probably end up that the games I get on the VC will be the less popular games and ones that I don't feel like putting the time/money/effort into finding an original cart.
