Quick votes!
(3 points) It's Really Pretty Simple After All - It's Complicated (2 points) Squids Wild West Original Game Soundtrack - Squids Wild West (1 point) Ratchet and Clank Future - Tools of Destruction (Game Rip) - Imperial Fight Festival [Planet Mukow] New nom! * Album Title: The Sword of Xuan Yuan Side Story: The Clouds Faraway - Lan Yin's Chapter (Game Rip) * Artist: ShinRay Woo, Zhihao Zeng (also spelled Wu Xinrui, Zeng Zhihao) * Track Title: Music004 Clip13 * Source: Xuan-Yuan Sword - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ; Xuanyuan Jian Waizhuan: Yun zhi Yao for Windows (2010) - MobyGames * File Location: Nomination folder * Disc Number: N/A * Track Number: N/A * Catalogue Number: N/A * Year: 2010 * Note: This is a track from the game's DLC (yes, Chinese games are not immune to the DLC syndrome), hence the longer than usual album title... Also, I edited the track to loop. And in case anyone was wondering, yes, it's another battle theme. Sadly, it was sadly used in only one battle. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
I think therefore I am... I think.

Nomination (finally I DO THIS) :
Album: KOKUGA Original Soundtrack Artist: Manabu Namiki Track Title: ?? (Theme 4) Track Number: 14 Year: 2012 Source: GVSD-2001 | KOKUGA Original Soundtrack - VGMdb FELIPE NO |
Album: Pushmo/Pullblox (Gamerip)
Composers: Shoh Murakami, Masanobu Matsunaga Track: Nintendo Mural Track #: 11 from rip Catalog #: n/a Year: 2011 Source: Pushmo Ending & Credits (Youtube) Additional Info: The credits lists Shoh Murakami as the "Sound Director" and Masanobu Matsunaga as "Sound Support". These are the only credits that pertain to sound, no credit for music composer or music anything is given. I've only found 1 other credit for Shoh Murakami - he worked on Sound Effects for Dragon Quest Wars alongside Matsunaga, but the latter has worked on a number of previous Intelligent Systems games, some that specifically list him under Composition of some sort (the earlier Warioware games etc.). The rip is a line-in one I did - sound effects can be disabled making it possible. Sorry, data extraction purists. Uploading to the FTP. How ya doing, buddy? |

Crap, I forgot I hadn't voted yet. Votes coming soon.
Edit: Just a quick vote this week. Maybe this is heresy, but time to rejigger the SotW format? I think it's something worth discussing, if people want to have the conversation. Great week!
3 pts. - Squids Wild West - LOVE this, so much so that I'm giving it more points than my nom. Reminds me of Rockface Rumble from DKC3 (GBA version). Definitely have to check out the rest of the soundtrack now. 2 pts. - Benfro Theme - Nice and cheery title track from a little iOS game called Sir Benfro's Brilliant Balloon. It was composed by Tom Colvin of Sudeki fame. Pretty good soundtrack; it's full of acoustic guitar and other real instruments, which is nice to hear in vgm. The last track makes me think of Bastion. Here's a Spotify link, in case anyone wants to check it out. 1 pt. - Ominous Change - Mmm, jazzzzzz. Love the feel it has. Is this a Totaka original album? *heads to VGMDB* It's Complicated and Imperial Fight Festival were decent; Hiro I thought was just kind of there. EDIT: Oh my gosh, this Squids soundtrack is brilliant. Just purchased on Bandcamp. I was speaking idiomatically.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!
Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012): SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

2 points: Roll Away (Game Rip) - Hiro
2 points: Undercurrent - Ominous Change 2 points: Sir Benfro's Brilliant Soundtrack - Benfro Theme The vocals in "It's Complicated" ruin things a bit for me, even though I don't mind Troupe's vocals in some of his other tracks. Also the Roll Away/Kula World game rip has a very special place in my heart. The instrumentation in the Benfro track is so very agreeable. Also

3 points: Undercurrent - Ominous Change
1 point: It's Really Pretty Simple After All - It's Complicated 1 point: Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (Game Rip) - Imperial Fight Festival [Planet Mukow] 1 point: Sir Benfro's Brilliant Soundtrack - Benfro Theme All right, so Undercurrent. Kazumi Totaka, it turns out, is one of a very few Nintendo composers who seem to do things besides compose music for Nintendo games. For pretty much his entire career at Nintendo he's been involved with original music on the side. Seems like he was the busiest during the early '90s, when he was part of Nobukazu Takemura's band Spiritual Vibes. Check out their song "idyllic," which he co-wrote and slammed the massive vibe solo at the end of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aoe155l9N4Y. Undercurrent is an original record he put out during the same time period on Takemura's label Lollop Records. The only place I was able to find this tune was on an unofficial MySpace page so I REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE IT'S THE SONG IT CLAIMS TO BE. I added all this junk to VGMdb a few months ago; check out all the blue albums in his profile if you're interested: http://vgmdb.net/artist/690. There are a bunch of Spiritual Vibes tunes on YouTube too. His current band is A Slice of Life, they're pretty chill: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cI7zwjdpHaI. Good set, I struggled with points. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Throwing up a nom:
Album: Cardinal Quest Original Soundtrack Artist: Whitaker Blackall Track Title: Forebade Track #: 05 Year: 2011 Source: VGMDB Comments: Not necessarily my favorite, but it's fun and has some nice variety to it. Jam it back in, in the dark.
