Best way to repair iPod's database

I unplugged my iPod without the secure extraction thingie and I messed up the database so it doesn't recognize the songs, although they still occupy disk space according to the settings.

I was thinking into using software but I came across a software free method, but it doesn't look reliable. Any help (it's an iPod classic BTW.)

Jam it back in, in the dark.
