Myth ~ Xenogears Orchestral Album from Square

Myth Xenogears| SQUARE ENIX

Xenogears Soundtrack Hits in February (andriasang.com, 12.29.2010)

Quote:
PlayStation RPG classic Xenogears is getting a new soundtrack some 13 years after its 1998 release. Square Enix opened an official site today for "Myth: The Xenogears Orchestral Album."

This album contains 14 newly recorded full orchestrated tracks from Xenogears. The songs were selected based off fan voting, with composer and producer Yasunori Mitsuda making the final selections. Recording was done in Bulgaria.

Access the soundtrack official site for a music sample, a track list and a (Japanese) message from Mitsuda.

The soundtrack will see release on 2/23 at ¥3,000.

Track List:

01. Light from the Netherworlds
02. My Village is Number One
03. Flight
04. The Treasure which cannot be Stolen
05. Stage of Death
06. Shebat: The Wind is Calling
07. June Mermaid
08. Bonds of Sea and Fire
09. Singing of the Gentle Wind
10. Ship of Regret and Sleep
11. Lost... Broken Shards
12. The Beginning and the End
13. Small Two of Pieces
14. Faraway Promise

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The fuck.

I wasn't expecting this to be released so soon, all things considered.

Pre-ordered so bad once places start taking them.

This is long overdue, and I will definitely be picking this up.

I'm kind of disappointed. I was really hoping OMEN would of made it, but I guess the babel tower dungeon just pissed off so many people they didn't want to hear that any more than necessary.

I would of loved to see orchestrated versions of:

Grahf: Emperor of Darkness
The One Who Is Torn Apart
Emotions - World Map Theme

Oh well, Beggars can't be choosers. Still an orchestrated soundtrack of this game is very long overdue.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I've been waiting for this for...too long. Though the other day I was sorting through my old games and realized I have two copies of xenogears...such an odd coincidence.

Really excited. Whenever preorders are up, I'll make sure to order a copy as well as one for a friend.

Awesome. I'm not surprised by the tracklist; it reads like a greatest hits of Xenogears tracks, and considering the fans voted on it, it was relatively predictable. Two or three tracks I don't particularly care for, and would it have been so hard to get Awakening in there? Nevertheless, I'll reserve further judgment until this comes out. Count me as excited.

I feel so confused. I thought they were working on a Chrono Cross orchestral album?! Where did Xenogears come from, all of a sudden? Not that I mind... *hearts*

Woah, was not expecting this but couldn't be happier! All of the track selections are amazing and the short 1 minute teaser playing makes me want to slip into a 1 month coma so I could wake up and listen to this album now!

Even better, it gives hope for the Chrono Cross album since Xenogears hasn't had a (Squaresoft) entry in 13 years and isn't exactly a hot property at the moment, so if they are releasing an album based on it then the also-dormant Chrono Cross album has a good chance of coming to fruition. Then maybe we can hope for FF XII Piano Collections or a Vagrant Story album! (one can dream, can't they?)

I think the probability of a CC arrange album more or less depends on how much time Mitsuda-san invests into it, not so much on how SquareSoft feels about it.

This is going to be one of the greatest days of 2011!

I've been waiting so long to hear orchestrated Xenogears!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The music of Chrono Cross doesn't really have anything to do with SquareEnix. Mitsuda owns the rights. So he's just being lazy, hehe.

OMG! This is like their 3rd album like this isnt it? Cause we had the original, Creid, and now this. Plus there was the OCRemix Xenogears album and one that was nothing but piano. Oh i almost forgot about the tribute Yasanori Mitsuda:Space and Time. But that did have CC and Xenogears music.

It proves this game is definitely one of the most beautiful pieces of art around. <3

I still think that the OCReMix project did produce the best doujin arrange album, especially disc 1 is really nice.

Now that the album is out, I made a couple of things to celebrate.

YouTube Video

YouTube Video

First one was a huge pain to edit. Second one was easier.

Enjoy!
