Farmville costs lives

Quote:
A woman in Jacksonville, Fla., pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday after shaking her infant to death for interrupting her game of Farmville.

Alexandra V. Tobias, 22, killed three-month-old Dylan Lee Edmondson in January.

She told police she was angry because the baby kept crying while she was playing Farmville, a Facebook-based computer game, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Tobias told police she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to calm down, then shook him again. She said Dylan may have hit his head during the shaking.
sauce.

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Fuck.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I can't wait for the backlash about how casual games cause housewives to become baby murdering monsters. Every time there's a case of child abuse the news cast will include ominous music and quick cut shots of Bejeweled. Truly we now live in a world of wonders.

How ya doing, buddy?

Oh Florida, is there any insane shit your residents don't do?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I always see my brother playing that stupid farm game on facebook and wonder wtf he is doing and why he thinks its so interesting. I will make a note now not to interrupt him...

Seriously though, I don't know why she pleaded guilty to second degree murder; she could have easily gotten involuntary manslaughter with any decent lawyer. I can't believe she would tell a court she killed her child intentionally because of a game...

I was speaking idiomatically.

Stopping in the middle of it for a smoke break and then proceeding to continue afterward would never have flown for involuntary.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

The kind of people who play Farmville are usually the kind who don't get laid. So how did she have a kid anyway? :S

Haha.

In all seriousness tho, if there is a massive backlash about these kind of games, it'll get blown out of all proportion won't it. It usually does don't it. Take the GTA franchise as a prime example. :/

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The stuff of tragedy right here. Someone grab the movie rights.

Ugh, this is rotten stuff, though. What gets me is the pause between shaking fits. The way it sounds she had time to consider, reflect, or do whatever it is one does to consider their fucking situation and consequences of one's actions. Sickening.
