Hacking a DS

I have a DS Lite I want to get hacked. My friend had good experience with the m3i zero flash cart. I wanted to know if anyone had a recommended store to buy this, or if they have any newer/better flash carts to suggest. Thanks!

I personally use CycloDS with my DS lite, and I am quite happy with the support. Although the cart is sometimes not detected now, after two years of use. Invariably a sheet of paper to wedge it tighter to the slot will rectify the problem.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I also use the CycloDS. I've never had a problem with it. The support has never stopped and their forums are useful if you want help with it. I've been very happy with it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I have to agree with the survey and say the Cyclo DS as well.

While it's a bit on the pricey side, it's still a top quality product and the continuous support for it is pretty amazing compared to some other cards.

Gonna add to the CycloDS praise here, never had any problems over the two years I've had it. Every game I've tested worked and those that didn't (Jam With The Band is the most recent I remember) got patched pretty fast. No clue how much they run for these days but I got mine for $50+S&H and I think that was a pretty good deal since it came with a 2GB MicroSD at the time.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm just gonna keep beating it till it bleeds here. I use the CycloDS as well, and have never had any problems with it. [Actually I have--using the microSD adapter with a microSDHC card doesn't seem to work 100% of the time, but there's other ways to go about that.]

I'd definitely suggest the CycloDS, at any rate.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

So has anyone here tried an m3i zero? My friend Sean spent much time emulating games on the DS and says that there have been several ROMs he tried that don't work on the CycloDS, yet do work on the m3i zero. However, this was a couple years ago. We don't know of any advancements to CycloDS since then.

Has your friend Sean bothered upgrading his firmware for his CycloDS? You kind of need to keep up to date on that as some of the newer games won't work without newer firmware.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

He had a CycloDS Evolution and obtained the latest firmware. He said there were several games that would work on the m3i Zero and not the CycloDS, such as Bowser's Inside Story. The CycloDS would have freezing issues during cutscenes on some ROMs, I believe he mentioned. He also told me that, at the time, CycloDS required purchasing updated firmware separately.

I've never heard of purchasing CycloDS firmware, so maybe he bought it from a bogus site selling knockoffs that only offered updates for it through payments?

The actual link of CycloDS updates is here: CYCLODS ... A world far beyond the realm of just gameplay ...

CycloDS firmware has always been free. Basically what RR said. I'd add that on their forums they have a section where you can download beta firmware which is updated more frequently when new games are just released and other problems arise. Sean was probably doing it wrong.

I'm using M3 DS real. CycloDS is a bit rare in these parts of the world.

I'll have to ask Sean about his firmware experience.

In the meantime, where would you suggest I buy a CycloDS? I certainly don't want to buy a knock off from some shady site.

It's true that Bowser's Insider Story did freeze up on CycloDS, but that was right around the first week of it's release. Firmware is quickly released for it and there's hardly ever any problems if you upgrade frequently, unless you want to play some obscure game that no one cares for, lol. And yeah, firmware is always free. =P

Bumping to say that the CycloDS site and forum are no longer operable. Usually not a problem - they periodically have "bandwidth exceeded" errors, but this is a "domain expired" message. So, prospective DS hackers need to exercise caution when buying this flash cart.

It's been good while it lasted, gentlemen. Looks like the lack of a DSi cart hurt them.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh man I really hope it's just something dumb on the part of their webmaster. You figure someone would have posted what was going down at gbatemp though. At this point in the game I don't even know what carts are good Cyclo replacements should there be a freeze on firmware updates.

Well, there's a thread up, and the prognosis doesn't seem to be good. The lack of communication is certainly not helping.

My favourite thing is the reactions to it.

"Cyclo DS team f**k you! tks for the robbery..."

It is literally the scene where Jack Sparrow screams "BLOODY PIRATES."

How dare those people steal from people involved in thievery?

HOW DARE THEY?

How ya doing, buddy?

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

They've had top notch support the entire time. I certainly got my money's worth. I just wish they'd pass the torch (release source code or something) if they are in fact gone.

It's not like a CycloDS even stops working when the company goes under. It's like complaining that if you buy a Dreamcast right before Sega stops making it that they fucking stole your money. You still have good games to play on it, fuckstick!

I think mostly people seem angry because, I guess, Last Window doesn't work.
