Whether it would be better for me to take over this apartment, or an efficiency

It's listed in my journal but I'm trying to figure out the best solution so I'll explain.



Right now I'm staying with a friend of mine in Southwest Florida and her roommate. The idea was to find work, help her out, and then move on into an efficiency so I can start putting money away in case we needed it for my son.



Well this friend of mine wants to move back in with her parents. She offered to sublet her room to me in place. I'm thinking it may be cheaper to do it this way but I"m not sure whether this would be a better fit for me. Rent here is $1200 a month whereas I can get an efficiency for about $400 a month with utilities included.



If something were to occur here where rent wasn't made on time (3 people renting with myself included) I feel may be too much trouble rather than me paying $400 and being on my own.




I just want opinions which seems like the better deal?

Having lived in the same room (Barracks, boat, barracks) for awhile now. I say find your own. I am about to go to San Fran, and the best part is that I get my own room.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
