Bread Rising 2

So it turns out that the footage that surfaced last week is the real deal (no surprises there, I mean, come on, why would you fake a shaky-cam effect).

YouTube Video

Here's Joystiq's take on the announcement. As rumoured, it's being developed by Blue Castle, the gentlemen who previously brought us Baseball Game '08 and Baseball Game In Which You Sit At A Desk And Watch People Play Baseball. Game's coming on 360, PS3 and PC. Combined with the rumour of the first game getting a PSN release and the Wii getting Deadz Risingz Partyz, there's multiplatform glory all around. Friends!

And here are the facts:

- Set several years after Dead Rising
- Takes place in "Fortune City" (see: Vegas)
- New protagonist, presumably with no war-covering experience
- Turns out the zombie plague spread all across the USA after the first game
- Motorcycles
- Guitars
- Zorbing
- Hordes of shuffling undead

Now I just need to get around to finishing the first game. FUCK. Hopefully this'll be out by the end of the year.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Holy shiiiiiiit, it's real.

News of a sequel makes me ='D

Confirmation it's not by the original Capcom team make me >=(

Assurance Inafune is still working on it settles me at a hesitant =|

I would have loved to see Frank return, he was basically what made the first game so completely awesome.
Hopefully it'll turn out good, but I don't think it'll hold the magic of the original.

I'm with Q. News of a sequel is excellent news since Dead Rising is fucking ace, so fingers crossed for this.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I hope they keep the tiny sdtv-hating text of the original.

That's freakin' awesome. I hoped for this but didn't really expect this since the first game got such a lukewarm response when it came out. But it's easily one of the best 360 titles I played to date, so unless Blue Castle seriously screws this up (for example by making it easier or removing the "death really fucking sucks" element that made the original so hardcore and stand apart from all the weaksauce games where you have healing powers that make Wolverine jealous and can respawn endlessly) this will be sweet.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I really loved the first one, too bad they never brought it over to the PS3 since this one will be multiplatform. Doesn't really matter since I got the first one for the 360 but I always wanted to see an improved version for the PS3 taking advantage of the blu-ray format, and yea I actually did like the whole photography aspect of the game.

One thing I guess I didn't like that much from the first game was the 3 day time limit which didn't give you enough time to explore everything so I hope they remove that from the second one. I wonder if this one will include a mall as well and not just in a hotel and casino, I liked the mall from the first one. Gotta go and play the game again now.

I've never heard of Blue Castle either, I don't think they worked on the first game did they? Lets hope they don't mess it up.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Fantastic! I hope there are even more outfits in this one (cross dressing Frank FTW in DR1), maybe something from Onimusha another series that Inafune has worked on. Heh, I also hope they bring back some of the sweet melee moves from the first such as Guile's somersault (I loved using that move to pop heads) and the football tackle (great for pushing through crowds). Would have been nice to have had Street Fighter outfits for the first one.

Hopefully there's some info on what's happend to Frank and Isabella since the first game. There seems to be mention of Isabella in the trailer, though it appears to be related to the cure she developed in DR1.

BTW, did anyone ever get that 7 day survivor achievement from the first game? I know my brother got the 5 day, but shortly collapsed to fatigue after getting it.

Fall 2009 release please!

I think I was the only person on the entire planet not satisfied with Dead Rising. I found the whole thing irritating. From the save system (I like saving when it pleases me.) to the whole 'Gotta do stuff when we tell you, not when you want" (I've been told that that's the charm, but a less hardcore approach would be nice. If I want to explore some store and slaughter zombies, I hate it when the game then slaps me over my fingers, going "Nuhuh, if you don't go here now, you can't complete the storyline.")

But perhaps the new development team does a more open and mainstream game, in which case I'll give the game a go.

You see the beauty of Dead Rising was having the restart system like Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. The developers even suggested that when you start just explore to earn some levels and get familiar with the mall and all the items. You could go any where in the whole mall at the start but would have to take the long way around to get to main plaza area untill Brad unlocks the shutter gate on the second day. For all the scoops, you had a good warning and a time buffer on when to do them. You could have even ignore the main story and just do the scoops.

I think DR1 was perfect in its approach to giving you freedom and structure.

Well that was a bit of a downside to the game. I remember doing some of the scoops and then having to ditch the survivors and rush back to continue the main storyline. Tho that wasn't really that much of a problem for me since I enjoyed the game so much that I played it at least 4 times I think and just focusing mainly on the scoops. I liked it, but I'm sure they're going to change that a bit and give the players of completing all side missions without worrying about being at a certain location at a certain time. Even if they keep it like the first one, I still wouldn't mind it personally.
