Hmmm... the only thing that I can think of right now is that perhaps you can only have one connection per a server program established with your PS3. Therefore;
Computer A <---> PS3 (Because you allowed it) Computer B <--- PS3 (It can see it, but you currently have it set up to work with Computer A) This would make sense to me. Only thing is if you tried Computer B first (Desktop) then there was no existing link between A and the PS3 for the PS3 not to link to B. Make sense? lol Anyhow that's probably not the case, but there's not enough information on this feature right now to know for sure. The only other things that I can think of that may be the issue is if you have a firewall on your desktop that's interrupting incoming inqueries from the PS3. OR under; Media Sharing -> Settings -> "Allow new devices..." checked UPDATE: Alright, I did some looking around and I found some good possible fix walkthroughs. This may take you a bit to go through all of it (if need be) but it's a lot stuff that seem like possible fixes. Good luck. http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...essage?board.i d=ps3media&thread.id=44464 http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...essage?board.i d=ps3media&thread.id=47608 UPDATE UPDATE: Found a quote in another walkthrough which sounds like what I was saying earlier; "If you don't see the device, the chances are that a)you have a firewall blocking WMP11 media sharing b) there is some port conflicts between ps3 and your home network. Disable firewall to check if its a), or restart your PS3 (or disable and enable back media sharing in XMB under Network Settings). After each reboot PS3 will use different set of ports for media sharing, so eventually you should be able to get PC and PS3 see each other. The same also applies to a similar problem with other software." http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158357 CURRENT STATUS: Alright I installed the new version of TVersity 0.9.10.3b which does not require the TVersity PS3 patch. After installing this, selecting PlayStation 3 as the end user and selecting the files I want to share the program crunchs the data, creating a database. After this it is hosted on the network for all PCs, Consoles, Laptops and everything else to see. Unlike WMP 11, there is no validification required to establish a connection. You just can't have TVersity's out-port blocked by a firewall and pretty much anything should be able to access this. TVersity in conjunction with ffdshow also allows you to ciew almost any common filetype on your PS3. Including Xvid. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these after seeing the upscaling firsthand. I wanted to check with something though. Anyone happen to know if the newest firmware resolved the emulation issues with Ar Tonelico?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |

Well, I'm making progress. I went into the settings and checked that "Allow new devices and components automatically" setting, and my PS3 can now access my PC, but for some reason it still won't display any of the songs that are in my library. It just says "no tracks", but at least it now doesn't give me the permission denied error. It's a step forward, nonetheless. When I went back upstairs to check my computer, I could now detect the PS3 from my PC as well. Weird.
I think I might just try and work with this TVersity, since it sounds way more versatile with the files that can be streamed to your PS3. I'm going to try and set that up later. Hopefully it'll go better than WMP11... I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Well for your WMP11 issue, are you sharing the correct files that has you media in them?
As for TVersity, it's a good program, but if you try to share too much on the server then the program begins to bog down and what not. My solution has been to use TVersity for videos and WMP11 for music and pictures. How ya doing, buddy? |
Ok. I finally got everything working. All of my music is on a different partition, so I initially just dragged and dropped the entire folder into the WMP11 library, assuming that would then relay everything to my PS3, but apparently you have to actually go into the library settings and manually set which specific folders you want WMP11 to monitor. After I set it to monitor the designated partition with all of my music, everything worked like a charm. Pictures work, too. Too bad Winamp doesn't have a feature like this, as that's what I use to manage all of my music. Thanks for all of your help.
Now on to the videos... FELIPE NO ![]() |
I'm already looking forward to October when they gonna launch that awesome "Home" network. I heard it's possible to listen to your friends' pirated MP3s and watch their moviez before they can be seen in the theatres. This is going to be astounding, I wonder what the RIAA will say about that.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
There will be DRM restrictions in place, trust me on that. Sony is out to make money with Home at some point in the future, they won't just ruin everything beforehand.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |

First screenshots of Home seem to indicate it's a gathering of hipsters, it's only fitting they wear Adidas and D&G.
I wonder if Sony will ban players violating a certain fashion code from their service. "Sorry, only cool people allowed!" This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Theres no way to describe the FolksSoul demo other than "Amazing."

Only on the Japanese store, but it is possible to create a Japanese account.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? Nothing wrong with not being strong

Hey dude, that's a cool link, thanks! I like how they discuss that TV's size in the comments.

Yeah, FolksSoul is great. Set for a September/October 2007 release date here, but it'll be in Japan by the end of the month.
The fighting is amazing and it uses the SIXAXIS well. When you collect the Ids of the monsters you fight (getting them to something called a Dizzy Point, at about 50% HP), you have to shake the SIXAXIS and magical arms will sprout from you and attempt to absorb the Id into your body. It's a great visual effect. The FMVs aren't quite up to par with a lot of PS3 games but the gameplay is great and the environments are really vivid and beautiful. It reminds me a lot of what I'd imagine a Harry Potter or other extremely magical world to look like. I really hope that they don't mess this game up because I'm probably looking forward to it more than I am Heavenly Sword right now. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
EDIT: Haha, just saw the Summer Holiday 20th Century 3 trailer too. That game looks pretty fun, might have to import that, assuming it'll never see the light of day on these shores. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
That FolksSoul game is pretty bizarro, man! It's nice, though, not something that made me go "WOW!" but it was a nice experience. The Everybody's Golf 5 demo, however, is awesome. It's extremely fun to play, the graphics and details are just neat and I think I played it like ten times in a row today

Yeah, well, it's a nice demo to test the SIXAXIS feature, but other than that, it's pretty much useless to me, that MIGHT be because I don't understand what the fuck they're saying, too.

I know that this is probably nothing new for you guys but I have to say it.
After watching the new Stranglehold LE trailer and I heard that the LE disc will contain both the game and Hard Boiled on the BR-DVD I was just like, "F*** YEAH! Blue Ray ROCKS!", Honestly though to get a next-gen game and a full and possibly even 1080P movie on one disc is simply unbelievable. MAn... can't wait. ^^ I was speaking idiomatically. |
Just made a Japanese account and tried out that FolkSoul game. It's like Alice In Wonderland meets The Wizard of Oz. The fighting is pretty fun and kind of unique. I like it. I didn't know what the fuck was going on, though.
After playing this game, one thing that I noticed that bugs me about some games is the character animations when they are running. When you're moving in one direction and then take a 90 degree turn at full speed, I want them to react to that sudden change in motion. I don't know. It's just a little something that I think could make a game look more 'next-gen'. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
Version 1.81 didn't really get us anything exciting, no? However, I notice that ALL my PS2 games are 100% compatible now which is awesome to the max. Now I can play Burnout Revenge with WHEELS on my car (wasn't possible before)

Yeah. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I went and did the proxy hack so I could download the Warhawk beta. Everybody with a PS3 needs to get this game. The flight controls are fucking messed up, but once you get used to them this game is nothing but fun.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Pfft... wheels are over rated. lol
Good to hear though. Seeing how you're in Germany guess that means you have a PAL PS3? If that is the case, it's nice to hear that Sony gave the same committment to Europe like they did for the U.S. about backwards compatability. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
