myspace dating etiquette

alright, so this is kind of an awkward question, but I'd like to find out everybody's general opinion about myspace and dating...

here's the deal. upon browsing people who went to my highschool on myspace, I found a girl whom I never really knew nor talked to, but had seen her throughout my highschool career. Her profile really sparked my interest and it seems like we really have alot in common. So, at this point I'm thinking this is the kind of girl I would want to date, but I'm not exactly sure exactly how I might go about this.

Are people generally turned off by this? Mind you, I'm not a huge myspacer. The most I do is send funny pics to my friends and browse other people, and in fact multiple people use my account as well.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't have a myspace, myself, but I would think this sort of thing would be creepy?

To avoid all creepiness, get to know her a little bit first through PM's. Make sure you tell her you recognized her from high school (be sure to point out which high school to make sure you don't look like a random pedofile) and get to know her from there.

Then, get her phone number. Bam, now you've got a way to invite her out on a date and it wouldn't be through myspace.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

There is nothing else you can do to meet her.

It's creepy, but worth a shot.

Also, don't stick to anyone's advice but what you feel is going to work. If she pushes you away from the beginning don't make a dive for her phone number. If she embraces you from the beginning and takes up a strong interest in you, then don't worry about getting her phone number and just head in for the kill.

Make sure you're comfortable with what you're trying to achieve before you attempt to do so.

Play it by ear.

great advice, I'll definitely take it into consideration. I feel if worst comes to worst the most I can do is make an e-dumbass of myself.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Wow Vestin, I'm totally against your thoughts of this whole thing being "creepy". And WTF - you can't friggin tell him that without your own experience using MySpace.

MySpace is by far one of the best forms of communication, and it brings socialism up by a longshot. But I will continue being enraged and totally pissed off everytime I hear shit on CNN news about these poor innocent young girls getting raped by these pedophiles. Those kind of f***ed up individuals deserve to get hanged by their b*lls. (I will edit this part if needed - moderator can send me a PM - please don't delete).

My suggestion Evang - just say "HI whats up" or something casual - use MySpace and maybe send her a photo or so. Be friends .
I wouldn't say its creepy at all - she put everything about her on MySpace so thats intention to meet more peeps and hold more conversations with various individuals. If she intended to stay more private about herself, she wouldn't have done this or else she would have deleted her account by now.

Don't even try rushing to date her yet - you weren't friends and didn't really know each other in HS. So take some time in getting to know her more by just talking to each other. Explore her and hopefully she'll want to explore you by asking you questions about yourself. After you get to know each other well enough - ask her out on a date if you're comfy enough.
-But this is just my advice - be biased on your own decisions and do what you feel is right (Vestin stated it, so I agree with him on that matter).

And if she thinks your creepy - then just back off for a good while (or permanently until she says something back to you). Perhaps she's using MySpace to just keep contact with her close friends from HS, but no one knows that but her. But still, I'd say she's full of crap, perhaps high maintenance, unsocial, and just too picky if she ignores you after your first conversational attempt.

As sung by Eminem from the 8-Mile Soundtrack titled 'Lose Yourself'-
Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted…One moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime

Take a stab at it!

How ya doing, buddy?
No. Hard Pass.

I've always said faceless communication on the internet beat actually speaking with someone, and man, Eminem is always the best advice giver for relationships! His marriage wound up so functional!

Tomahawk is a prophet.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD.

You honestly don't think Evangelitan sounds creepy?

I watched this girl in high school...

I found her on the internet...

I couldn't talk to her...

She wasn't ready for our love yet...
