Best bass lines in vgm

I think this will be a fun topic.

Everyone loves a good bass line. What are the coolest/grooviest/funkiest/baddest (etc.) bass lines you've heard in vgm? It doesn't have to be a line per se, it can be a riff, or whatever, as long as it's bass.

Post samples if you can, so we can all check them out.

I'll start off with some Alexander Brandon stuff. He composed a lot of nifty bass parts back in the day. These aren't necessarily his best, just a few random good ones:

Pull Back the Bass
Menu
Colonius
Diamondus

Now a great funk line, courtesy of Dr. Brain Action Reaction:

Track 04

An Atelier Iris Eternal Mana song, it's the little thing on the end that's cool:

Hot or Cool?

One of the BEST bass lines ever (creates such a feeling...of what, I'm not sure):

Castlevania III - Demon Seed

And this may not totally be bass, but it has a cool bass line sound:

Lunar 2 Eternal Blue - White Mask Funk [Mystere's Theme]

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Yes. :-/

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The first one to come to mind is the theme from SWIV (Decimation), done by Andrew Barnabas. Very catchy!

Here's a sample: http://www.sendspace.com/file/t25n8g

I know some better songs, but I'd have to do a little digging through my collection, cause I can't think of many off the top of my head.

The one I do remember is a bass staple: The Spy from Final Fantasy VIII. More funk than you can shake a stick at.

I'd actually suggest the "Boss Battle" music from Ducktales.

It starts with the strongest chiptune bass melody I know, then maintains it throughout the entire loop.

The boss theme from Earth Defense Force is famous for it's bass line, and was quite something for it's time (A boss battle theme with a bass solo?!)

Listen

I always loved the bass line in Secret of Forest from Chrono Trigger, especially in the second part of the song, where it acts out on it's own, sweet bass in that one.

Well, I could think of more, maybe I'll add on after listening to some more.

Well, nothing like a fat analog sound to drive a good bassline,
a sound that, during the 16-bit era, was the almost exclusive
domain of the Sega Genesis. Two e.g.'s (attached below):

Several classic Yuzo tunes from Streets of Rage 1 & 2...

and from a lesser-known soundtrack, U.S. Gold's
Incredible Hulk. It don't get funkier than this!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The non-arranged version of "Dancing Bomber" from Dangun Feveron is extremely funky.

You have to listen to hear the bass, but it's definitely there.

This thread has a severe lack of Tetris Attack.

Forest Stage - Critical

Flower Stage

Sea Stage - Critical

There are also some tracks where the melody is in the bassline, like Forest Stage and Water Stage - Critical. Any excuse to link more TA music.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
