Gamecube Emulator help

I've got a capable system that'll be able to handle the Gamecube emulator, Dolphin, but every time I load a game (homebrew and commercial) it won't work, The help files aren't very comprehensive (given that a GCN emulator is still new) so is there anyone out there that knows what this message means:

VI unknown write32

?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've got Dolphin as well. What are your system specs?

I've got a 2.8GHz system (Pentium 4) and a GeForce 6600GT Graphics Card.

My Graphics Plugin Properties:

Under Direct3D settings

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT by Tweaks RUs
Device Type: HAL(Hardware Accelerated)
Use Shader Ver: PS 2.0
Fullscreen settings: Video Mode: ---
Windowed Mode Settings: Resolution: 640x480
Antialias mode: No Antialiasing

Under Enhancements, I've got nothing checked.

Under Advanced: nothing checked, but....

Default display list optimzation level: 1: Compile lists and decode vertex lists

Also, under Emulation at the main window, enable Dynarec.

This helps me run SSBM, Mario Power Tennis, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

But I must say, it's really slow, so don't expect 60 FPS.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Admittedly, my system's only a laptop so my specs are quite low, but according to my friend (who gave me the emulator) I should be able to play it (although very slowly).

Specs:
HP Pavillion dv1000

Intel Pentium M Processor (1.73GHz, 504 MB of Ram)
Display: Plug and Play on Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 915GML Express Chipset Family

I've followed your advice and now it some games say "Unknown instruction" while the others say "VI unknown write 32" again.

Any comments?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Okay, so it's not as good, but will it be able to play REALLY REALLY simple games (for etc. homebrew game of pong?)

I was speaking idiomatically.

Probably not. Why would you want to play a homebrew Pong on a gamecube emulator anyway?

I have the same problem. It started when the Dolphin site went offline.
I don't know what the problem is but I'm looking for help too.

How ya doing, buddy?

I'm sure you guys realize that these emulators for current-gen systems are like incredibly beta. Game compatibility is poor, speeds are slow, and hardware support is crap.

A good emulator is probably at least 3 - 4 years away, in my estimation. I didn't feel like waiting that long to play some legendary games so I bought a GC and games. I don't mean to sound like Cam (get FireTruck) but a GC or PS2 emulator isn't a feasible option.

I don't know why we get so many emulator help topics. There are entire forums at ngemu.com for this specific reason.

It's not if you want to play games at full speed. And yes, you need a dedicated chip to play. I believe the minimum card is a Radeon 9550. That is, it does require shader support. Rendr summed it up well.

Actually the PS2 emulator has come a long way - http://www.ngemu.com/index.php?action=post&id=2062

Some games can run up to 35 fps.

Seriously, why not just get a used Cube for like $50-70? I mean I know it wont play homebrew games, but is it really worth the effort to play on a Laptop that you will need to have plugged in anyway?

Oh yeah, and that laptop definitely isnt good enough to emulate a Cube.
