Forgot The Admin password
My gf mom...is not all that bright...
They have a DELL and installed WindowsXP with the Dell CD...and she put 3 accounts, one for herself which is the Computer administrator and the other 2 for her daughters.. The mother forgot her password and now nobody can install anything and nobody could go into the administrator account...how can I make it so they could be able to install and change things? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I think this is the least complicated method in recovering a admin password. Just go here and follow the directions: http://www.loginrecovery.com/
If you have any trouble just post back here. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
If she's computer-illiterate, I presume she uses an easy password. You could always go in with Knoppix, get the hash files, and go to work with John the Ripper or LC5. Even easier if you know what characters are in the password.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Refer to this page for methods of recovery:
http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_admini...r_password.htm Personally, I've used the "Offline NT Recovery & Registry Editor" to great effect, by blanking out the Administrator's password. However, if you're not a power user, you might want to go with Kairyu's recommendation I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
