Making your own games

I'm working on making quality games from using these programs,

DarkBASIC
FPS Creator
3D Gamemaker

I'm not using dark basic at the moment, but i am using gamemaker right now and fps creator to make some cool games. Quality games say in the range of some of those top pc games that exist.

How is it possible? Well you can import any type of data or file that you want, which makes everything simple and quick.

Yall should check it out.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

And? Anyhow I guess I can advertise M.U.G.E.N engine which really kicks ass when it comes to making to 2D fighting games. Pity I don't see anything that should provoke discussion, guess nobody is making anything.

My Mugen game looks like this:

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If any one feels like making a realy stupid 2D game, e-mail me or PM me or w/e and we can discuss the details.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I used mugen back in the day, made 4 fighting games, but got rid of mugen and the games once i came across a program called: 2d fighter.

Its a million times better, and if you want it, let me know.

anyone uses rpgmaker? I have tried that program once... I guess I'm not good enough to handle scripting and programmer logic.

You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

The Mr. Methane CD, purchased over ebay for .01¢. Yeah, free shipping. This guy performs all sorts of neat stuff, including the doot doot, doot doot from the Blue Danube.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.

I've had a few friends who've used RPG maker to make a few little games. I'm told it has some limitations that keep them from making things the way they want.

I once did a game demo for a story in RPG 2K3, but I never got around to remaking it better in RMXP >_>

Right now I'm making a Side-Scroller Shooter for my college class using Flash 8.
If it comes out well I'll post it here for all to play when I'm done with it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm using Rpg maker XP right now... the limitations are really heavy on the programming side. They lay the ground work for you and all you have to do is write story and import content.

I tend to prefer game engines like Unreal Engine, Dark Basic, Toque, and Wild Tangent... many more options.

although I haven't touched Dark Basic in years... did they ever update it with a visual interface? cuz that would rock.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Azral - That reminds me, I got around 60-70% done with a Balamb Garden level for UT2K4, but It fell apart with clipping issues. I should try and remake it someday.

I've made some games on RPG Maker 2k3. It sucked ass though . I do have some resources from it. If anyone asks, I'll post them up.

I've been trying to make games in Flash MX, but the closest thing to fully functioning game I've handcoded is this crappy shooting gallery type game. Yeah, I know I forgot to import the HTML file for that game...

I find that none of these programs are worth the trouble. At this point I think I'd rather program a game in a real language. There's way more documentation for what you're doing in that case, too.

It takes absolutely forever, though. That's why people resort to these game makers. Plus, I always seem to hit a wall at some point where I can't work out how to codify what I want the game to do. Then I sort of just give up.
