This seems to scream "Scapegoat!" to me. Rather than admit to the faults of the government and the hospital (which according to testimonies is rather unhygenic), they decide to blame foreign workers for this debacle.
I'm sure Libya probably has an AIDS problem, but my guess is the govt. wants to blame them so that they don't seem to be responsible for causing that problem (or at least not doing much to solve it. Can't blame them entirely, as AIDS really sucks since there's no cure, and the drugs to treat it is expensive). But by finding those nurses guilty, they're just making themselves seem worse in the eyes of the world (the article even mentions the guy running Libya is kind of a crackpot).
So, do you think the nurses were fairly judged on this, and were guilty of an international conspiracy? Or are they just easy targets to blame on bigger problems in Libya?
I'll say one thing though, I'm not going to be visiting Libya anytime soon.
