IPPO Mega Man 9 music interview
Ippo Yamada is the lead composer and sound designer of Inti Creates. If you've played Mega Man 7, you might recall he was credited as IPPO, contributing together with eight other musicians to the soundtrack.
The following Q&A touches on his work as part of the sound design team dubbed III and the process of creating Famicom-style tunes and effects for Rockman 9. There is also some information on the upcoming arranged album at the end of the article. Mega Man 9 music interview with Inti Creates’ Ippo Yamada Jam it back in, in the dark. |
It should be interesting to hear whether the remixes on the arrange album that are by NES musicians are more aligned with the style you just described.
There's nowhere I can't reach.

Glad you liked it.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

By the way, a follow-up interview on the arrange soundtrack, including the participation of Ryo Kawakami and Akari Kaida, has been posted to GameSetWatch.
