When I was little I used to be afraid of the dark. I'd usually keep my bedroom door wide open to let any outside light flood into my room, as my parents would still be awake and watching television. That never really helped, as I kept thinking monsters would be able to see me. So I'd cover my head with the blanket and sleep like a mummy. I did that shit for years.
Now it's so embedded into my psyche that I have to stop myself from doing it today. I'm not afraid of the dark or Chuckie anymore, but the blanket over head thing feels so comfortable -- it's like I tell myself I can't sleep any other way. Fortunately I've almost broken that habit, but it's still there. Doing stuff. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
