Didn't they confirm the cars would get damaged/dirtied now?

Nice, can't wait to see the shakey cam videos that will result in those kiosks.
Look at that MGS billboard. Japan owns us. ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Rumor: PS3 to come with Blu Ray Demo Disc.
FELIPE NO |
It's just 'confirmation' that there will be a confirmation on ZOE 3 in the next issue. I'm not immediately dismissing the news as false, I just want to remain cautiously optimistic until the screenshots are revealed.
How long until that PSM3 site updates? I want to read their impressions on the system's bells and whistles, namely how PS1 and PS2 games play and what visual enhancements you can implement. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Actually I read that kiosk is for Wal-Mart. I thought the Best Buy one was supposed to be bigger (7.1 home theater connected)?
![]() It's nice that you can choose the TV and Audio input from the start (and I assume, makes it the default setting for all PS3 games), but where's the widescreen option? I'm really hoping that setting widescreen on the console=widescreen for every single PS3 game. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Ruh roh.

EDIT: That Ricky Bobby movie!? What the hell?? Most amazing jew boots |
So basically, Ricky Bobby and Black Hawk Down are the first two "real" Blu Ray movies. In that case, it's obvious why they chose the former and not the latter. I hope they'll at least have hi def trailers for future BR movies.

I really hope Resistence delivers as something beyond a decent FPS or a mere Halo clone. I'm placing bets on making it my premiere launch title, and there will be problems if it ends up mediocre. Motorstorm looks fun, but I really don't want a racing game to be my first experience with a next-gen system. And Oblivion is guaranteed to be good, but it's just a port that probably will look no better than the 360 version.
I want my first game with a new system to be something to show off, visually. But it has to be fun to play, too. I'm not exactly confident that an FPS can do that either (since your player is always invisible, due to the camera view), but with Heavenly Sword and Lair delayed, Sonic reportedly another disaster, and Genji 2 looking like a PS2.5 game, then everything rides on Resistence for now. Sony probably came to the same conclusion, thus all the marketing toward it. I was speaking idiomatically. |
There's word going around that pre-orders are finally going to start this Monday or Tuesday at Gamestop. However, it also sounds like the pre-orders will be one day ONLY, so you'd better check early morning for both days. I know I'll be doing that.

Sup, Black Knight. He'd be my new avatar if I wasn't going fanboyishly gay over Death Note right now.
Also, I just called my Gamestop to confirm the rumor about pre-orders being this monday or tuesday. The guy said he hadn't heard anything, but he's confident pre-orders will start this month. He also said it wasn't likely to start monday, but I'll check again tommorow regardless. FELIPE NO

Oh, shit.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
GAF member posted his e-mail confirming things.
1. The clerk she talks to is an idiot who immediately denies that pre-orders have started. 2. There will be a huge line of people who will fill out the pre-orders before she gets a chance. I'm more worried about the latter. I don't know if this information is widespread enough, or if my little Gamestop in FL would fill up like that. As long as she gets there as soon as the store opens it should be fine. How ya doing, buddy? |
Just want to let you know that I got the official word myself; I called my Gamestop tonight, and they confirmed that pre-orders will start first thing tommorow. My store will be getting in 16 pre-orders. Being a small part of FL, he doesn't think there will be a big line or anything beforehand, as he states that very few people know of the pre-orders. Also, you do have to specify which version you want, so I'll be putting my money down for the $500 model. Wish me luck (or rather, my sister).

![]() ![]() The hell is wrong with people. Damn. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I wonder how news got around so fast. The only forum I've seen this info from is GAF, and I doubt that many people got the information by e-mail (I didn't even get an e-mail, and I signed up for the damn thing).

So, did my sister come through for me?
Spoiler:
And although I can't resist some guys getting screwed from their little "easy money" plot, I feel inclined to warn some of you like Metal Sphere about the online rumblings concerning a new policy. Spoiler:

![]() ![]() Anyone else as impressed by the first sets of boxart as I am? I'm digging the higher quality fonts and extra space at the top. I can't wait to see what some of the bigger games will pull (MGS, FF). What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Anyway, usually demo videos aren't worth judging the final game by, since A) they usually use an old build (for example, RE4 uses the E3 trailers for their demos), or B) the compression strips the little knicks and knacks of the final design. Well, all I want to know is what time does the Sony Gamer show thing starts next week. FELIPE NO |
![]() So, the 60gb PS3 is bigger than the 20gb one? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Yeah, I read that earlier, and it all sounds very promising. I especially like that they aren't disguising the online fees by calling them "points". Also, I wonder if the downloaded PS1/PS2 games will also benefit from the PS3's enhancements? If that's the case, then the original disc isn't needed to enable the features. Makes me wonder if HD Loader will be compatible with the system, or if someone can create something similar real soon. The system does leave a lot of ports for potential homebrew.
Here's a question I was saving for a Gamestop clerk later on, but let's see if someone here can answer for me. So the system is launching on November 17, which is a workday for me. Since I don't leave work until 3:00pm, nabbing a system would've been a problem if my sister didn't reserve it for me. However, the whole "first come first serve, even with pre-orders" policy has me a bit worried; if one of the reserved systems is lost or damaged, then the remaining systems go out to whoever of the reserved customers pick them up first. That poses a problem if I'm the last reserved client to enter the store. I'd ask my sister to pick it up for me, but I don't want her to have to wait in line with everyone else. So my question is, if she has a reserve ticket, will the clerk let her bypass the line completely and enter the store? If that was the case, I'd ask her to meet up before the store opened again, and just waltz right in and pick up my system. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
That's seriously not fair. Why would the reservers have to wait in line like everyone else, when they're guaranteed the system? The way this whole arrangement goes, it should go reservers>regular buyers.
My job is still new, so I don't really want to lie. I guess I'll have to either send my sister out around noon (2 hours after the store opens, so the line should die down. keyword is "should"), or just leave it up to fate and check the store later at 3:00pm. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Okay, that makes more sense. So in other words, there shouldn't even be a line aside from the 8-16 people who pre-ordered it in the first place, because they'll only have systems for the reservers and nothing for regular walk-ins?
In that case it shouldn't be a problem for my sister to pick up mine when the store opens while I'm at work. Or again, I can just wait after work. The chance that something will happen to the shipment is small, but it's not something I'd want to risk. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Very nice. Although I still hope GS will put some sort of sign indicating that the systems are for reservers only, to cut down on any potential idiots who think they can camp out and get lucky.
Only thing left to decide now is which launch game to get. I'm still leaning towards Resistence, but I want to read the first couple of reviews before I fork over the money. I'm also waiting to see if there might be any store specials like Best Buy that will cut the price down to $50, or any other bonus deals. So far the plan is to get Resistence at launch, rent something later on (Ridge Racer maybe), then grab another game by christmas (Oblivion or FEAR). Most amazing jew boots |
Yeah, I'm not sure if Blockbuster will have PS3/Wii games available by then, and even if they did, the possible cost (current games cost $8-$10 a rental) might put me off. Good thing there's Gamefly and its free trials.
Another possibility regarding the launch is that they might distribute the systems the night before, at midnight. They did it for the PSP, so it's possible they'll do the same for PS3, in which case that would be the best option for me. I was speaking idiomatically. |
