I didn't buy anything, but I got Baten Kaitos Origins as a late birthday present. Now I just have to go and finish the last bit of Baten Kaitos...

I missed my bus after work, so I walked the short distance to EB Games to kill some time. I saw Sega Genesis Collection there, and having never owned a Genesis, I picked that up right away so I could play many classic titles. I then also saw Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube used. I've heard a lot of good about it, and it was in good condition, so I bought it.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I missed my bus after work today, so I went into EB Games to kill some time, found some cheap used games, and bought them. It seems to be the only way I buy games anymore.
First, I saw Wild Arms 3 for $7. I've never played a Wild Arms game before, but I liked the music from the series in BSC, so I decided I'd give this a shot. Then while leafing through a bargain bin, I saw buried in the bottom Space Channel 5 Special Edition for the PS2, which is Space Channel 5 and Part 2 together. This was only $9. Grabbed it. Then I noticed a sticker on the case of SC5 that said "Buy 1 Get 1 Free". I asked the cashier, and he said it was a promo that ended quite a while ago, but since they forgot to take the sticker off, he'd honor the buy 1 get 1 free deal... but I had to find another game with a sticker on it that fit into the deal. So I searched the whole store. The only other game with that sticker in the store was Trigger Man. Looks like shit, but it was a free game, so I took it. Of course, the first review I looked up online for this Trigger Man says that the game's bad, and not to take it even if you find it for free. ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()

Oops, thought I had posted this a couple days ago, but I guess not.
I used up some Best Buy gift cards I had sitting around from Christmas and bought three games that were all $20. -Super Mario Sunshine I was in a Mario 64 mood when I bought this. It has some of the same fun feel, but I can also feel that the tedium will set in fast because it's another one of those collect-a-thon games. That, and so far, every level is happy sunny beach themed, and I'd like some variety. -Wild Arms 4 I picked up Wild Arms 3 a month ago, and I've only played it for three hours so far. But even with just that being my experience with the series, I liked enough to go ahead and pick up another game in the series already. Plus, the game has awesome music. Yeah, I'm really just playing it for the music. -Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 Yessssssssss I love this game and all the games within it (except for Strider, why do you jump so awkwardly and why is your sprite so massive) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
While Gamingforce was down, I picked up Silent Hill 2 for the PS2. It's the Greatest Hits version, which has some extra stuff that the original didn't have. I'm enjoying it so far, it's definitely quite creepy. I'd like to pick up the other games in the series if I can ever come across them in stores.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Sunday marked three years of dating for my girlfriend and I, so among other things, she picked up Lumines Plus for the PS2 for me. I haven't given it a shot yet, but I love addictive puzzle games. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
The other day I was telling one of my friends that I don't buy very many shmups because they have a short gameplay time. But I play the ones I do own all the time. Whereas those games with a long play time, I usually only play once or twice. So I came to the conclusion that maybe I should buy more shmups, because I play them as much as other games.
So today, I saw Chaos Field for the Gamecube in my local game store, and its price had been knocked down to five dollars less than before. So I was like, hey, impulse buy! And I picked it up! With money my parents sent me in a care package last week! FELIPE NO ![]() |
Oh, it's been a while since I posted in this thread.
Let's see... for my birthday, I received a copy of Growlanser: Heritage of War. I put it on my list because it came in that spiffy limited edition packaging, and if I missed out on that, I'd be kicking myself later regardless of how good the game was. I'm playing it now, and it's fairly enjoyable. Not amazing, but after I finally got used to everything, it's entertaining enough. And the extra stuff looks cool! I like extra stuff with games. Last month, I came across a copy of Ikaruga for the Gamecube while killing time in a game store. I did a double take, realized it was Ikaruga, then realized I had no money to buy it with at the time. I shoved the case behind some similar colored game cases that weren't popular games, and prayed it would be there. I came back with money three days later, and it was still sitting in its hiding spot. So, I own Ikaruga now. I can get through the first level with no problem now, and usually the second, but that third level is a killer. I also got a copy of Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 for the Game Boy Color from someone who plans to never play it again, which was pretty cool. Dragon Warrior for the NES is the only game in the DQ series I've played, and though I understand this is more like a Pokemon game, it'll be fun to see if I catch any references to the main series that were present in the first game here. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Today I discovered a store in the area that sells old video games. I ended picking up a copy of Shatterhand that was in great condition for $3. I'm so glad to have finally found a place that I can buy older games at, I'm gonna keep checking back there whenever I'm in the area.

There's a local folk music festival going on this weekend, so in an attempt to draw in the crowds, the used game shop near me had a buy two, get one free sale. Also, they just got in a handful of older RPGs, so I figured it would be a good idea to take advantage of this!
I first picked out Brave Fencer Musashi, which is a game I had a hankering to try when it was first released, but never found. Then I saw Front Mission 3, which I've heard a lot of good things about, and figured I'd give a shot. And then I grabbed Illusion of Gaia, which was my free game thanks to the sale. I've played Terranigma, and a little bit of Soul Blazer, but never IoG, so I'm really excited to give this a shot. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
