My mother was always overprotective of my sister and I. Any Halloween in which the weather fell below 40 degrees (which is quite common up in Michigan), she would jam layers upon layers of clothing on us, then try and put our costumes over that. I would always get home and feel like I had been standing in front of a furnace the whole time. I also remember one year my sister's costume wouldn't go on over her coat, so my mom threw my sister's costume on her, then her coat over it. She kind of took the fun out of Halloween sometimes.
In every neighborhood I lived in, there was always one house that had a haunted house built up in the front yard. Looking back, I'm amazed people would go through that much trouble just for some kids in the neighborhood.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
