An updraft wouldn't change the outcome. The speed at which the wind hits the plywood would be about the same either way they tested. Also, I think they did a revisitation of it and it was still busted, although I am not sure.

Well, in the episode where they tested it, did they rig up a system on the back of a truck where one of the dudes was almost literally holding up a plywood board as they accelerated?

No, there was an episode where they were trying to test how much speed was needed to generate the necessary lift.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That doesn't sound very likely, unless they actually DID a follow-up episode - do you have a link to it? I'd like to see it. Or even just a summary of what they assessed in it? I'm curious to see, since there are a few episodes which have questionable methodology in them.

No, no links. But I am 90% sure it was based on the same myth. I guess they did a follow up episode then. I haven't been keeping track of TV stuff for like the past year.
