OpenOffice and the Internet
So, I installed OpenOffice onto the family computer because mine was temporarily out of commission. (moving)
Apparently however, it manages to block off all internet access. After uninstalling it, the internet worked just fine. The computer is on a wireless connection. Can anyone explain this? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
These were the some of the same thoughts that I had.
Here are more details: -OO was not running at the time of attempted internet access. -Actually, the problem was that the router (Linksys WRT54G) would not assign an IP to the computer. Therefore, it could not access anything on the network. System resources are not a problem. There is 1 gig of RAm in there. -I never attempted to access the internet when OO was open, so I cannot say for sure if that might have affected it. All i know is that the router would assign an IP address to the computer when OO was not on the machine. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
What would you say if this situation were recreated multiple times, thus exhibiting that it is more than mere coincidence?

Actually, I even assigned an unused IP address, subnet mask, the gateway address, and correct DNS addresses, but to no avail. The Windows notifiers even said that connection to the network was established. However, no usable connection was made(i.e. access to the other computer, mine, on the network, was not possible, as well as internet access) How ya doing, buddy? |
