I would barely even call DeG metal, same with Gazette and MdM while I'm at it (why they have a space on MA listing them as doom metal I'll never know.) But yeah, I realise you're not really listing metal bands anyways. Just thought I'd say.

Anywho, Sigh takes top prize in my mind. Very talented and incredibly different from just about any band out there. The Engrish is quite terrible, but the range in music and dynamics of each song are great. "Hail Horror Hail" and "Imaginary Sonicscape" being their best works.

Next would be Boris, with their latest effort alongside Sunn O))) being simply amazing. Assuming you like drone that is...

But yeah, Concerto Moon is pretty good too. X-Japan has been played out and only good for "lol this started a whole shitty genre."

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not sure if Zeni Geva counts, but I'll throw their name out anyway because their music is so interesting.
Ah shit, forgot about them. Definitely counts, and though not everything put out was metal, a lot of it crosses over or is pure metal. It's a mix of avant-garde and metal in most cases.

There's a pretty obscure band called Phantasmagoria that has a few heavy songs, from what I've listened to. It's good stuff, if you can dig up any of their tracks... I've had a pretty hard time finding their music myself, and even then most of it is in terrible quality. :x
I got all of their stuff in good quality if you ever want it. Just hit me up on AIMSN. Though they still fall under that visual kei/j-rock umbrella like MdM and Diru.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Yeah, they're more "nu-metal" and metalcore now. It started back with Vulgar and has become more and more apparent.

I disagree with that comment on nu-metal, because I feel that their vocalist at least gives a genuine feeling of fury and anger, where as most nu-metal vocalists are pretty whiney and talk about 'hate' [aka Jon Davis] but not in a real sense, but just to get a shock feel for it. I mean, I know some of their songs are nu-metal esque, but I don't think nu-metal is bad...if done right.
Not going to argue this because Cyrus is right, but there's a reason they toured with a largely nu-metal show.

I was speaking idiomatically.

So cheesy power metal? Wizards' Hymn [Hymnal] and Concerto Moon [Rain Forest, After the Double Cross]

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
