DVDs take long time to burn

It takes me around an hour and a half to burn a DVD. Been like that since I got it, but I never bothered, since I didn't burn all that often.

I've updated to the latest firmware. Using Nero OEM 6.6.1.15. Memorex 16x DVD-R discs.

What am I doing wrong?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well, I have a Dell Dimension 3k and they are set up on the same IDE cable. I was going to try and switch them around, but I don't have any cables long enough.

So before I go get a new one, it's not going to affect anything if I take the single device cable for the system HD and change it to a two device cable and hook the DVD writer to it instead of my storage drive, will it?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, apparently my second IDE device was set to PIO (is that the first or second connector on the cable, cuz my storage drive is the the second or end cable).

I followed those intstructions, but it just reset it back to PIO. I don't have any of the box or shit for that HD, so I don't know anything about it without ripping it out. I dunno what to do about that, but I will still try seperating them off the same bus cable still.
