New Years Locations
So, have any of you planned what you're gonna be doing once the year changes? With family? Sleeping? Partying? Also, try and remember what you did during the past New Years, when the year changed, as far as you can remember.
Nothing sure planned yet this year. I'm heavily considering climbing this motherfucker of a volcano on the 31st and possibly watching the fireworks from the far off capital from the summit once midnight strikes. It's Guatemala's/Central America's highest point. Whatever I do, I'm just happy to be free this year. It's my favorite holiday. Year change locations: 2006 New Year: State Prison. Watching the celebrations from the Las Vegas Strip on the news live. 2005 New Year: State Prison. Listening to the best songs of 2005 on whatever radio station. 2004 New Year: With my brother and his girlfriend on the Las Vegas Strip. Drunk, the year changed when we were in front of the Fashion Show Mall and Treasure Island. 2003 New Year: County Jail. Since it was in Vegas in the downtown area, me and my cellmate watched the fireworks outside our ninth story window. 2002 New Year: With Lenore on our balcony. I was drunk as hell. 2001 New Year: With three friends of mine on the Las Vegas Strip. Can't remember where I was exactly. 2000 New Year: Las Vegas Strip with three friends. My very best New Years. I had gotten EXTREMELY drunk earlier in the night and passed out in an alley near the Flamingo Hilton. Luckily, about five minutes before the year changed, I woke up and rejoined my friends. I was right in front of Caesar's Palace. 1999 New Year: My very first New Years at the Las Vegas Strip. With my girlfriend and her family. Year changed in front of Caesar's Palace/Bally's. 1998 New Year: Spent it at the house of the above mentioned girlfriend and her family. 1997 New Year: With the above mentioned girlfriend, though a friend at the time, at her apartment with her family. 1996 New Year: At the Rivera Casino with my arcade chums, who over the years I'd spend more New Years with. Too scared to go outside and hang on the Strip that year. 1995 New Year: In Los Angeles with a life-long friend of mine. I'm not fully sure, but I think we fell asleep on some bed and weren't awake for the change. My last New Years in California. Can't remember past that. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Okay Charlies, what'd you do last night?
Almost went to Antigua Guatemala last night, the old capital, but ended up spending the year change with my "adopted" family. It was a good time, didn't feel so lonely even if I was the closest thing to a stranger there. Afterwards, back here, I stayed up doing nothing more than drinking until six in the morning. Just happy to have spent it out in the fresh air, really, watching all the goofy fireworks. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
