Let's Dance!
It was either here or the general forum, but in the end I think this is more of a quiet place issue. Do you dance? I mean, socially. At clubs, a bar, weddings, prom, etc.
Me, I`ve now offically danced twice in my life. Saturday was one of my niece`s birthday and we went to a club. I went through about 11 bottles of beer in a couple of hours. Then I noticed this beautiful girl. Blond. I never have liked blonds but this girl was beautiful. Young too, 19, and a nurse. I wanted to ask her to dance but I had never danced before. So, in my logic based DRUNK FUCKING MIND I ask another of my nieces to dance. A five minute lesson. I quickly make a fool of myself but no one on the dance floor seemed to notice. Being drunk, I think I`ve learned everything necessary. So then... I sit down and wonder how the hell to approach this girl and ask her to dance. Every once in a while we`d make eyecontact but I didn`t FOLLOW THROUGH. YOU DRUNKEN FEDORA WEARING FOOL! FInally my sister grabs me, points at the girl (Jennifer) until she catches her attention, and tells her to dance with me. She smiles and we dance. I talk to her the whole time, even mentioning my kids like a stupid bastard, but she doesn`t seem to mind. Of course, before all this, I had to explain that in the States I never danced. There`s something odd but pleasing about holding and dancing with a person you just met. But I have to say I wish I had tried it sooner. Not because I like dancing (I hate the whole concept of it), but because it`s a great icebreaker and a good way to meet new people. How about you chums? Jam it back in, in the dark. |

I have the same problem all of you do. But really, if you want to get cheap feels in, meet new people, etc, try the OO remedy:
Get fucking wasted. Then go find someone to dance with. Do this for several weekends. As you get used to it, slowly lower the amount of alcohol it takes for you to get your nerve up until you can do it without drinking. If you wind up an alcoholic in the process, you can think of me in AA. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
