Actually, I'm wondering if the reason Hiro isn't back yet is because he screwed up history.
He might have created an alternate time line because of what he's done to Kensei. Ando is living in the time line where Kensei saves the girl and defeats White Beard, whereas now Hiro is in an alternate time line where Kensei collaborates with White Beard and destroys the surrounding villages or something to that effect. Jam it back in, in the dark. |

Hm yeah. Maybe Kensei's power keeps him alive for hundreds of years, which would be perfect to match up "the symbol" to all of the death threats and what not.
