Are your dvd player, xbox or ps2 hooked up via component cables?
Also, that's Sony's new tv. If you use the right connections, it'll truly shine. We just got them in stock at Best Buy last week.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Devo, you're my hero.

Don't get discouraged with your HDTV. HDTVs look great with HD sources, using HD complient cables. Component cables deliver a HD signal via an analog connection. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) cables deliver a HD video signal, and digital audio via a digital connection. Standard definition picture quality on a HDTV however, varies.

If you like, you can purchase a upconvert dvd player, which uses a HDMI cable, and upconverts your DVDs to HD; you can choose 480p, 720, or 1080i. The Toshiba SD-4980 dvd player at Best Buy, is $79, and the least expensive HDMI cable, an Acoustic Research, is $54.99 (atleast at my local Best Buy). DVD Upconversion of course, is not as nice as a true native HD resolution, but its a bit of an improvement. Have an employee at your place of purchase, SHOW you the difference. Just tell them "Oh I'm thinking of buying a HDMI cable with an Upconvert dvd player but I dunno. Maybe you can show me what it looks like?" They practically be wetting themselves with excitment. Cables are a huge profit margin for stores.

Later on down the line, when you get a Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, you'll be much more satisfied with the connection, and resulting picture quality. For example, 360 runs Halo 2 at 720p, which looks amazing when compared to running it on a xbox. Playstation 3 will run ALL legacy (legacy being PS1, PS2) games at high definition.

edit: added more information about upconvert dvd players

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

After pluggin them into the dvd player, LivingDreams might want to set it to progressive scan.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
