So...
Spoiler:
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Again, though, that was Swagger's fault, as he pushed Christian into Finlay and Hornswaggle. When has there ever been a match where there's a guest commentator who has had a superstar thrown at him, or has been pushed aside by a superstar, and not fought back at any point during the match?
Look back to Armageddon 2007. Chris Jericho got thrown into the Smackdown announce table during his title match with Randy Orton, and JBL was trying to clear him off the table. As a result, Jericho nudged him as he was getting off the table. JBL wound up costing Jericho the title by booting him in the head, blatantly in front of the ref just so that Jericho didn't win the title, even if he won the match. (That's the closest I could remember off-hand. I'm sure something like that happened again sometime between that one and last night's.) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

And what is it exactly with everyone wanting Cena to turn Heel? He's pretty popular at this point in his career, and apparently helps with WWE sales, much like Triple H has been doing for the past couple years. Sure, maybe another Cena title run is not the best idea, but as long as he's doing well for the company as a whole, a heel turn just doesn't need to exist. We've already got enough heels on the RAW brand as it is with Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, JBL, Jericho, and on occasion, Mike Knox. Nowadays, the face stack seems pretty stable as well with CM Punk, Cena, Kofi, Mysterio, and Michaels (I'm probably missing a couple of each. Lately, I've been passing out halfway through the shows). God knows what Kane is right now, as some love, some hate. He hasn't really done much since the whole Mysterio feud to prove whether he's face or heel. He's just come out, beat someone up, left. And Santino, he's neither face or heel. He's just an idiot. You think he's a heel, but his antics lately have just made him a comic: splitting his groin trying to mock Melina, weird jokes about dating Beth Phoenix, and more recently, trying to get into the Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania and losing horribly. I mean, shit, he set the new record for shortest time in the Royal Rumble this year. You wanna boo, but then you wind up laughing at him. But, I guess, to each his own. And as long as we're doing opinionated predictions and whatnot: Diva Battle Royal - Trish is great, definitely noted as one of the greatest WWE Divas of ALL TIME. However, I heard that SUNNY was gonna be in this thing. Now, given she was never really "active" in the ring, but I think she was still pretty active in the business, being a manager for multiple tag teams, as well as Ron Simmons (Faarooq at the time). Frankly, I think the odds-on favor advantage is gonna shift between Trish and Sunny. Rey Mysterio Vs. JBL - Agreeing with most here, Rey should win the title and keep it active. The IC title has been around for decades and has a great history, and it's a title that could possibly continue to build a history in the future. It's not a title that should be retired. JBL, well, that's another story. He's got his radio show he keeps bragging about that I've never heard, but don't care to listen to. He's got his "millions", despite the economic crisis. Money In The Bank - Frankly, I don't know where to go with this one. You got some great candidates lined up here, like Christian, Kane, and CM Punk. Most of the other guys, I feel, are just there to provide extra "OOOOHHHHH!!!!" moments like we've been seeing in the past. Example to that: WM23 when Jeff jumped off a ladder in the ring landing on Edge on the outside of the ring laid across a ladder. Frankly, if Glen Jacobs is considering retirement soon. I definitely think he should have one last run with a major title. Gonna go with Kane on this one. Jericho Vs. Legends - This WrestleMania is a huge milestone for the WWE. You've got 3 legendary superstars who were part of the very first WM coming back for one final match. They should win. I don't care what anyone says. Jericho has been disgusting to watch since the Michaels incident last year. I have no interest in seeing him continue this onslaught of the people that paved the way. I personally don't think this is what they've performed for all those years. Shit, I pray Jerry Lawler, and even Stone Cold get involved. Lawler's part of the history of the company, not to mention a Hall of Famer. And basically, you can't have a WrestleMania without Stone Cold. Fresh off HoF induction, Austin should come out and give Jericho a stunner or two. Of course, this all goes on while the ref gets knocked out, unsurprisingly, by Jericho. Undertaker Vs. Shawn Michaels - Well, I don't know how true or fake it is that Taker's contract states he CANNOT lose at WrestleMania, but frankly, I'm pulling for him retiring WITH an undefeated streak. Plus, it's true what they say. Taker has never beaten Michaels. This is a perfect opportunity to change that. Randy Orton Vs. Triple H - Like Mortis said, it's "Hero" (Triple H) Vs. Villain (Orton). And at such a milestone as WM25, good should conquer evil (well, besides that whole Michaels/Undertaker thing). Orton is just as disgusting to watch as Jericho. Trips will take that shit home. Carlito/Primo Vs. Miz/Morrison - Eh, whatever happens happens. I can't say I follow the stories pertaining to these 4 superstars, or the Bella sisters for that matter. The sisters will probably interfere, commencing a cat-fight, and then someone's gonna win. It's just practically gonna be a 15-minute intermission for the bigger matches. Cena Vs. Big Show Vs. Edge - All right, it's pretty clear Cena does NOT have a thing for Vickie Guerrero. He said so himself. He blackmailed his way into the Triple Threat match, which, happened to be pretty funny. Frankly, a small part of me wants him to win the title, but then, like I said, it's not necessary. If Show wins it, well, Show wins it. If Edge wins it, well, one can only hope Christian wins the MITB and cashes it in, beats Edge (I'd rather not see them reunite), and runs off to RAW, since Trips will probably still be on SmackDown. Frankly, if Edge or Show wins this match, I pray it's not the main event of WM25. Ending the show with a heel winning the last match just doesn't feel right. Shit's gotta end with a face. Jeff Hardy Vs. Matt Hardy - Well, they're both high-risk takers, daredevils, and well-trained with a steel chair and a ladder. It'll be one hell of a match to watch. I made no winner opinions or predictions here. Swagger's not putting his ECW title up, is he? No? Well, no harm, no foul. Nobody wants to watch him anyway. How ya doing, buddy?
|
Well, you MAY not have to worry too much.
Spoiler:
On a different note: is it just me, or do they seem to make Kane lose a lotta matches via a roll-up counter-pin to his chokeslam attempts nowadays? I know he can't do tombstones anymore, and I know he's got less time left than what I'd like to think, but I feel like they're just killing him off week by week, match by match. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
|
Well, Taker has made several appearances since the match... well, at least one on Smackdown that I can think of, but I could be wrong. I don't catch Superstars, unfortunately, so my Thursday nights are spent watching Sting's final moments in his wrestling career, not that I wish it, because he's still interesting to follow.
On another note: anyone else watch ESPNEWS a few moments ago and catch the little Vince McMahon Vs. Nuggets scene? Apparently, that last blow to Vince's head via Orton sent him back 10 years into the past, because he accidentally referred to the WWE as "World Wrestling Federation", when blasting at the Nuggets owner for this whole controversy as to which event, the Lakers/Nuggets Game 4 or Monday Night Raw, will be held at the arena next week. Now, I could be overreacting to this, considering Vince is the Chairman, and not a normal staff member of WWE, so I doubt seriously that the Board of Directors would do anything to him. Jam it back in, in the dark.
|
I dunno, judging from the "phone call" Triple H made, it didn't sound like Shawn Michaels was too eager to return to action, much less come back as DX. However, I could be quite wrong. But, we'll just have to wait and see what happens next week on Raw.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
|
So I haven't watched TNA since, well, before the NE Meet, which was 2 months ago, and I decided last night to catch it.
Wow, what the hell did I run into? Spoiler:
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

...yeah, I'm just confused. Also, isn't Taz supposed to be Samoa Joe's manager or something, involved with the MEM? I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
|
Nah, I don't see that happening. The thing about Sgt. Slaughter is that he was always somewhat patriotic (not as over-expressive about it as Hacksaw Jim Duggan was). He's always blaring stuff about the U.S.
Trish, on the other hand, is Canadian, and definitely more popular than Slaughter among her fellow Canadians. Plus, it's a rare treat we see her nowadays in the WWE, so I'm sure they'd wanna keep her going good with the fans. I was speaking idiomatically.
|
Damn, Slash beat me to it.
I, much like many here, am more interested in seeing what's gonna happen Friday night with the Undertaker. If he doesn't pull a Bret Hart and quit, I can only foresee one of two things for the next PPV. 1. Undertaker Vs. CM Punk in a Hell In A Cell (HITC Hat Trick, anyone? Hasn't happened yet in WWE history as far as I know.) 2. Undertaker Vs. CM Punk in a Casket Match I wanted to say Inferno Match instead of Casket, but the Inferno thing is more suited for Kane than Taker. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
|
Well, that was a shocker that I bet no one expected.
Spoiler:
How ya doing, buddy?

At this point, it seems almost too obvious that they're edging closer to doing away with tag teams in WWE.
Spoiler:
The latter match seems like a bad idea in my mind considering Spoiler:
Honestly... I don't know what to think of this whole match. It would make more sense to me if it were a Survivor Series style match, but as far as I know, it's not. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
|
Yeah, my apologies. I jumped the gun on that one too early. Thanks for the clear-up.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
|
Pardon my lack of intelligence, but what brand and timeframe did he compete for/in?
Again, I don't really remember him all that well. On a side note: Tommy Dreamer is apparently done now. From what I gathered on WWE.com earlier today (because I missed ECW last night), Dreamer put his career on the line against Zack Ryder and lost. Gave another pretty emotional speech and left his trademark ECW shirt in the ring. So... we ready to "officially" declare ECW "truly" dead now? How ya doing, buddy?

Think I'll give this a shot.
Mickie James Vs. Michelle McCool - Honestly, I only watched SmackDown for the first time in a couple months last week, and between then and now, I see things haven't changed, as Michelle is still a child with the "Piggy" crap. I, too, foresee Mickie James getting revenge, as well as the title. Maryse Vs. Gail Kim - The Diva's time slots on the Raw cards are slots I wind up evading due to, well, the fact that it's not that interesting to me (and no, I'm not gay). However, I tend to usually side with fan favorites in these situations, so, I'm just gonna say Gail Kim. Christian Vs. Jackson - There's something I'm somewhat seeing here, and I'm willing to bet I'm the only one seeing it. IF, and that's a big if, Jackson does take the title from Christian, I semi-predict somewhat of a small face turn, as Regal will try to persuade Jackson to give him an immediate title shot, which Jackson will possibly refuse and spout some shit like "Prove you deserve it". Again, food for thought, but I could also see Regal scolding Jackson if he loses, in which case, Jackson will slam the hell out of Regal. For my choice, I pick Christian. Sheamus Vs. Orton - Honestly, I couldn't give 3 shits about this match, or the outcome, because for weeks on until NWO, or even WrestleMania, should whomever wins here defend their title successfully at NWO, we're gonna have 15-20 minutes of gloating, saying no one is worthy, and followed up in the main events of the shows leading to the PPV with dirty-ass tactics to boost their reps even further for me to hate. For the sake of it, agreeing with most here, Sheamus will retain. Undertaker Vs. Mysterio - somewhere in the mix, yes, Batista will interfere in the match. As far as who he attacks, well, it'll obviously be both men. Batista still hates Mysterio for his Bragging Rights' loss, but at the same time, he did mention something about Taker's WM streak. Basically, Taker will retain from a No Contest decision. What feud this will lead to come WM where he will hopefully retire with an 18-0 record, I don't know. Royal Rumble Match - Over the past few years, Rumble matches have SLIGHTLY started becoming predictable as to who would win. It's either after a "dramatic return", or some event leading up to the Rumble, like last year with Orton and Vince. Honestly, this is still my favorite type of match in the WWE, but at the same time, I'm getting somewhat bored with how it ends. I'm actually seeing several futuristic storylines depending on the title matches and the Rumble winner. If Taker wins, either Shawn or Batista will win the Rumble, as both of them, as stated earlier, mentioned wanting to break the streak, but it also depends on if Taker keeps the title after NWO. If Mysterio wins, kinda going with either Cena, Trips, or Batista. If Batista wins, then the rivalry will conclude at WM. If Cena or Trips, depends on the Orton/Sheamus match. If Sheamus wins, my odds-on random choice, though I'm not saying I WANT him to win, Cena, which will then set up a special-rules rematch at WM26 between him and Sheamus. If Orton wins, then it comes down to which match comes first out of the title matches and the Rumble itself. Honestly, I'm at a loss for guessing if Orton wins who'll win the Rumble, because no one's gonna wanna see another Cena/Orton, Trips/Orton, or Kofi/Orton feud. They've all lasted long enough on multiple occasions. And if DiBiase's face turn is gonna have any shot of kicking off soon, then he can't win the Rumble. So, yeah, really can't predict a Rumble winner if Orton wins. How ya doing, buddy?

You're right. Vince HAS lost his damn mind.
Survivor Series has been one of the biggest WWE traditions for over 20 years. I say this because it was in fact, this event in 1989, that I marked my debut as a fan of wrestling. Ever since, I have constantly looked forward to these annual events, and have, with absolutely no hesitation, gone back and purchased the Anthology sets for the first 10 years. If there's anything that really ruined the reputation of the Survivor Series, it's 2 things. 1. making normal matches 2. making championship matches 3. the Montreal Screwjob For them to just do away with a tradition like that is beyond one of the stupidest things Vince has ever done for the business. And really, the choices he's given the fans to decide on aren't really that great. In fact, the only choice that would truly have any hope of saving a Thanksgiving tradition would be the WCW-born "War Games". Tournament would be useless unless a title or gigantic pay raise were on the line. MITB is a WrestleMania tradition, and the idea of random tag teams possibly involving bitter enemies?... I can see the ultimate failure in that concept. Street Fight = too many people going on the injured list, screwing up storylines left and right. Roulette... well, the only good thing about Roulette is that the Inferno Match would be on it, unless Vince pulled the plug on that. And as far as Legends go, who can still fight? Steamboat was probably the only truly impressive one for his age at WM 25, several other legends jumped ship to TNA (Nasty Boys, Dudleys, Hall, Nash, etc.), and most othersare just plain out of it. Lawler would probably be the only other abled Legend, or Hall of Famer, who could still fight. So, yeah, honestly, Vince, take a wreath of barbs, and swallow it. You're killing WWE more and more every year. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
|
I had 2 things, but then a 3rd (one of the 2 before the Screwjob) came into mind before I clicked the Post button, and I forgot to change it. My apologies.
When I think about it, you're right. The brand split, poor timing for good team build-ups and rivalries, and the current state of the Tag Team division, not to mention the Bragging Rights PPV, they're all the reasons that Survivor Series has gone downhill lately. I just really don't see too many of these other PPV ideas doing that much of a better job filling that slot, though. If they really wanted a Tournament PPV, they should just bring back the KOTR PPV as a whole in the June slot, where it used to be years ago. FELIPE NO
|
SS, if you think about it, 10 people in MITB means that there will be more "HOLY SHIT" moments, more ladders being broken, and will definitely make for one hell of a match. Gotta enjoy it before the actual same-titled PPV pretty much ruins the reputation of the match in a few months.
Anyway, prediction time. MITB - Kofi and Shelton are pretty much in it for the high-flying "HOLY SHIT" moments. Ziggles (I assume he's in it), there to take major blows from ladders. Other than Kane and Christian, and those 3, I forgot who else is in it. Kane's been in each MITB match in the past, and if he's contemplating retirement in the near future, he needs one last major title run, or at least a shot at one. Winner: Kane MizShow Vs. Morrison/Truth - Show has been losing at WM for years now. I honestly don't remember the last time he won at one. 21 - lost the Sumo match, 24 - lost to Mayweather, 25, lost to Cena in the Triple Threat, and I don't remember 22 or 23. Nonetheless, while I'd rather it didn't happen, I'm going with MizShow. Truth's about to be dealing with NXT Rookie evaluations next week, so that's gonna be a big obstacle. Winners: MizShow Rhodes Vs. Orton Vs. DiBiase - You know, there's been talk for weeks about DiBiase turning face, but last week, it's become clear to me that it's not happening any time soon, if at all. In fact, much to my surprise, despite the fact that he's not even trying to turn face, Orton's been getting more fanfare than either of them lately. If this is truly the case, I suspect tension to flare between Rhodes and DiBiase as to who's gonna pin Orton, but Orton ends up winning. Winner - Randy Orton Triple H Vs. Sheamus - Whether Sheamus wins or loses here, I'm fairly sure his career will get the big push, especially if it's a good match. In all honesty, this one's hard to call. They upped each other back to back these past 2 weeks, but for the sake of it... Winner: Triple H CM Punk Vs. Rey Mysterio - Shaving head vs. joining the Drug-Free-Douchebags. I haven't followed this one much. Never knew Rey was a drug user in the first place. Hard to call, but doing it anyway. Rey's not joining the Straight-Edge Society. Winner - Rey Mysterio Bret Hart Vs. Vince McMahon - I'm going completely one-sided with this one. Despite his pretty-much-career-ending injury from Goldberg and his stroke a few years ago, and the severe possibility that Shane-O-Mac could possibly get involved, I foresee Bret unleashing hell upon Vince. Revenge is a dish best served cold, and Bret's waited 12.5 years for it. Winner: Bret Hart Chris Jericho Vs. Edge - 2 weeks in a row, now, Jericho has "bested" Edge. In cases like this, the face gets punked out a couple weeks or so, then comes back at the PPV to get even, by winning and taking the title from the heel. I don't see why it wouldn't happen again here, but that's just more me not liking Jericho. This really has nothing to do, in my opinion, with Edge's epic comeback and winning the Rumble. Cena pulled this 2 years ago, and he still lost. Winner: Edge Shawn Michaels Vs. Undertaker - Since I started watching wrestling back at the 1989 Survivor Series, I've always been amazed with Shawn Michaels and the legendary matches he's had over the years. I've even gone back to watch some of his matches in the AWA when they show on ESPN Classic. He's definitely a Legend and a future HOF candidate in my book, but my decision does not favor him for this match. The Undertaker's streak is something that no one wants to see broken, ever, even with the stakes for Shawn being this critical, and if Shawn's really getting ready to retire, I see putting on one hell of a final match at the grandest stage of them all for a 3rd year in a row, is the best way to go. Winner: Undertaker Cena Vs. Batista - Honestly, I'm gonna be too bored with this one, especially if it follows the epic HBK-Taker match. Cena, I like to an extent. He's obviously a struggling face due to the fact that he can't wrestle, and I usually side with the face of the match. Batista, since Bragging Rights, I've not liked his attitude and jealousy. He's starting to become the bulkier version of Jericho, and I already hate Jericho enough. Bad things happened in the past for Cena when being in the ring with Batista, but I foresee good things happening this time. Winner: John Cena What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
|
How ya doing, buddy?

Don't expect Jericho to turn face ANYTIME soon. For nearly 2 years now, he's been going with this "best in the world at what I do" gimmick, bitching and moaning about big losses, insulting the crowd on a weekly basis... it's just not happening.
For Edge to make a quick heel turn, yeah, very unexpected and a poor move on the WWE's part. I was expecting to see a month or so of Edge and Sheamus going at it since Edge cost Sheamus the #1 contender's spot on Raw. There's nowhere I can't reach.
|
He and Hogan came in right at the start of the year as the new management team, so to speak. They're pretty much the GM's of TNA, and from what I've seen in the past few weeks (haven't watched much of it for the past 2 months), it's basically turning into WCW again, only without 75% of the actual WCW roster.
Hell, they even tried to revive the Monday Night War, but... after 2 weeks or so, or 2 months, I forget, it failed miserably. I mean, damn. Hall, Nah, Waltman (I think they're still around), the Nasty Boys (same as Hall/Waltman), etc. All we need is Goldberg, Mysterio, Big Show, and Jericho, and we would practically have exactly that, a full-blown change from TNA to WCW. NOTE: I only mentioned still active wrestlers. I know damn well that former stars like DDP, Buff Bagwell, Dean Malenko, and numerous others helped make it really big. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
