If you want to maintain a decent friendship with your friend though, dating an ex can ruin that. They aren't off limits, but I don't think it does wonders for your friendship.
My husband's ex is now married to his good friend from college. He doesn't really care about the relationship, but it's hard to hang out with his friend without his ex showing up who he doesn't want to see  Jam it back in, in the dark. |
