Haha, how funny, maybe I should have taken pictures of the SE booth at E3 and posted the figurines. FFXII was the only game I got to touch while at E3 and I played it for like 2 mins and died. It is exactly like FFXI so I'm interested in seeing how the rest of the game unfolds. I'm a little sad about the no random battles thing, but I'm sure I'll get over it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There's no harm in pre-ordering, you usually just put down $5-$10 usually and it guarantees you a copy. I pre-order mostly so I don't have to run out and get it right away to make sure I have a copy, but so that I know it's there when it comes out.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

This isn't true this time, but usually our local EB or Gamestop will give you some kind of bonus thing if you pre-order. Either an artbook, poster, cd etc... too bad FFXII doesn't come with any of those. It all depends on the store though, which is why I like pre-ordering because I get free stuff

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

So... basically when the gameplay got harder than:

Fight
Magic
Run
Item

FF8 was difficult in terms of picking up the gameplay, but have you actually played FFIX, FFX, FFX-2 and FFXI? I think they learned their lesson with FF8.

FFIV was my favourite game too, but that doesn't mean I rule out FFX because it looked nice.

I hope that's a lot of storyline and not redundant repetitive fighting. I start to lose interest at the 20 hour mark. I know people like to get their money's worth, but I usually just want to play through the story, and end up with a good ending. Anything over 100 hours is absurd.

I don't think I've ever complained about an RPG being too short... considering 20 hours max would have been fine by me. I'd even take a good 10 hour RPG if they made them. Only reason I like RPGs in the first place is the story, if they can get a good story in about 10 hours, then great. Most of the time though, it's a good story but a bunch of leveling or hunting down monsters in super long dungeons that kind of get on my nerves after awhile.

Did you see that at Walmart the store or online? Hmm, I was by Walmart for lunch, didn't go in. I hate going there, especially if I don't have to but if it's a huge price difference for the game and book, I might need to cancel my pre-order at EB.

Why am I stuck with the stupid Walmart? "Uhh no we don't have that strategy guide, we don't carry guides. Oh and what game did you want? What's it on? No we don't carry that game either."

-.-

Well, on the bright side I am not giving my money to Walmart.

It was totally Star Wars... down to the dog fights and parade. I'm like.. Naboo? Then it was Aladdin street rat style. The voice acting is good, but the sound seems kind of off sometimes. Also Lord Rasler (the prince's) voice did not suit him at all. Thought it was funny because he looked like a boy and this sexy man voice was coming out of him, haha.

Or maybe it is. But until it's proven to be like that, I'm imagining that she's my fag hag. And you thought you sounded gay.

I'm still really enjoying this game. At Luhsu Mines (spelling?), I still feel like the world is huge. I don't even talk to most of the "friendly" people I see. Instead I've just been moving on to the next major story point. At some point I'll check everything out, obsessive-compulsive style, but right now I just want to see what happens next. So far, I don't understand the complaints about the story.

Oh, and "Mar-kwiss" annoys me over and over.
Fete is also a french word... I can't believe with the better voice acting came bad pronounciation. The acting is much better, but I'm not sure if I'm liking the sound and how the voices match. I feel like a lot of the characters have mismatched voices and it sounds too muffled.

How do you use quickenings properly? Are you supposed to spam the button that shows up? I managed to get everyone a quickening and did some combo thing which killed a boss instantly I don't know if I'm doing it efficiently.

Also, are you guys leveling 3 characters only or balancing them out? It's taking a long time to level all 6. I'm averaging about an hour per level. I guess it would make sense to just work with 3, but I can't decide who to use, hehe.

Which one is the doubling LP accessory? Even with the guide I'm feeling kind of lost. At least in terms of what to do with that license board and equipment.

Is that just normal attacks? I'm only getting like 150-180 per hit with all my guys.

I have Vaan use his Quickening. Then on the screen, Ill see the timer going down. What I also want to see is Basch's name next to a button on the controller I'm supposed to push (like the square button), because that will allow me to chain with him. If I don't see his name, I'll hit the R2 button to "shuffle" until I see Basch's name pop up. As soon as I do I mash the square button because to make sure the command goes through.

Then it'll switch to Basch as he powers his move. Now I should see Vaan and Basch's name below. It'll basically be the same thing here, I shuffle until I see either Vaan (with a triangle button) or Basch's name highlight and push the button next to the name before time runs out. Sometimes you'll see "Mist Charge" instead of the name of the Quickening each character uses. You should try to select that whenever you can.

After chaining a few hits the timer will go down extremely fast. Depending on how many hits you chained and what level Quickenings you used, you will trigger a Concurrence. It's basically a final move. So far I got Inferno and Cataclysm (this one I got after my chain of 9 hits).
Thanks for the description, that's what happened once. I tried it one other time and I didn't know what the R2 shuffle meant. So does it matter which quickenings each character gets, since their limits would still come out the same? Like Basch has that hadooken thing.

lordo: there's 18 quickenings.

Ahh yeah I just looked up the Gold Amulet. Looks like I'm about to head there. I need to save up some money to get that. Do you guys steal constantly to get more loot? I'm always so broke I haven't done many hunts, by looking at the rewards, it's not a huge amount of cash, and I don't feel like using a teleport stone to get to certain places.

Ugh... 100k steps taken and level 24. I have almost all the quickenings unlocked.

For the quickenings, what has been your highest combo? I can't get over 12 hits, and that's only if I'm lucky. If I don't see a button appear next to a character's name, I'm pretty much toast because the shuffling and the smacking of buttons takes up too much time. Is there even a strategy to this? Am I dumb or does the guide not have any info on this?

I finally figured out how to get some decent gil, now it's just the tedious job of running back and forth and collecting items and selling it off slowly. Need to upgrade my armour and buy more magic, everything is so darn expensive.

Here's where I'm at: spoilers in case people don't want to know what area is coming up.

Spoiler:
I'm at the snowy mountain place, mt omisace after the jungle. That jungle boss was a bitch. Besides going around fighting skeletons for loot at this level, is there a better area to get some cash? I noticed the wolves at the jungle entrance gave nice pelts, should I head back there? I did a lot of running back to Rabanastre to try to get more money and do some hunts. I'm always broke though. Suggestions?

I found that stealing from skeletons yield a lot of cash when you sell off bones.

I'm at about level 27, which is the best place to "farm" at this point? I'm sticking around the snowy area because there are skeletons, but it's kind of hard to chain, and the elementals get in the way.

Has anyone here still reading beat the game? I have no idea how much more time I need to sink into this. I'm having a great time, but normally 20 hours I start getting fidgety so it's a wonder I've made it to 45 hours. But at this point, the storyline is slowing down because it takes a lot more leveling to get to the next point so I end up getting sidetracked doing hunts. Not that I don't like side quests, but I don't like doing them when I want to get through the story.

So here's where I'm at:

Spoiler:
Need to head to Feywood, just beat Al-Cid. Am I even halfway through the game? I just wak a ballpark.

Great game, but I don't want to read through a guide to spoil the surprise, I am just curious if I'm halfway yet or not and how much I have left to go.

Is anyone at the end? I'm curious as to where to buy the stuff I'm missing because I've hardly filled out the license board. I was playing as though I still had half a game to plow through, but I suddenly came up to the last bit this morning.

Also where to level?

Spoiler:
I just finished that god awful bitch of a tower, where at the top the mobs are about level 49ish, but to get back there I need to climb the tower again. So, right now the hardest place I've checked out is Necropolis where I got the Zodiac spear. Are there any other places?

How ya doing, buddy?

I just beat the game... I had a bit of a break so I'm a little foggy on a couple of aspects. Obviously don't read if you haven't finished yet

Spoiler:
Reddas is Zecht, but what role did Zecht play before? What happened? I remember them mentioning his name but I forgot. Also, Landis... what is that? These are the two parts that made me confused, otherwise this is a straight forward story, as far as Final Fantasies go.

I finished the game at level 48, and I had my reserve 3 at 49 which I've never had to use. I found it to be fairly easy, I've had more problems with some prior bosses. Although I'm hearing that people are still coming across problems in their 60s at the end of the game. I'm not sure why that is, maybe bad gambit set up? You definitely should not be conservative about potions, because it's not like you will need them later.

Only technick I've ever used was libra and steal. I didn't bother with any of the others.

You're supposed to be able to finish the game at 40+, recommended is over 45. At my level, I was running out of places to level.. highest mobs were around 50ish. It must take forever to get past 60 or even 99.
