I've met and spoken briefly with a number of authors that I've met at various literary events--Harlan Ellison (I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream), Lois Lowry (The Giver), Paul Zindel (The Pigman), and Frank McCourt (Angela's Ashes). I also met John Astin (who played Gomez on the Addams Family) after his travelling one-man show about Edgar Allen Poe.

Meager collection? Are you kidding? I'd rather meet Harlan Ellison than most of the people that've been mentioned in this thread, and Lois Lowry is pretty awesome too...What was Ellison like? Did you get to talk to him at all?
My only "celebrity encounter" was that Lisa Bonet (Denise from "The Cosby Show") used to come in to my restaraunt last summer. I do know alot of people who know famous people, though. I know Mariah Carey's uncle, and my aunt has been doing Erin Brockovich's insurance for years, and my aunt's new husband knows a ton of famous people, because he's an auto broker in LA.
Oh, and one of the plays I was just in was directed by Lane Davies, who was a regular on the soap opera "Santa Barbara" for years. I don't think that really counts as famous, but my mom recognized his picture in the program, so maybe he is.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
