I just realized that YUI's style, besides having similarities to Michelle Branch/Avril Lavigne, she's really like theory of a Deadman too. The melody style is pretty close. The ratio of soft and loud songs in YUI's album reminded me of them.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't know if this is old, but have any of you tried Ketsumeishi? They're considered as J-rap, but even though I cannot stand American rap, Ketsu is much more [very] melodious and they have a rough voice to go with it. This combination, has absolutely won me over. Anyone who doesn't know about them, has to try at least this track called Sakura.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Speaking of Ayu, I have all (if not, almost) her singles and albums, thanks to torrents all over, including her remix albums. Acoustic mix, eurobeat and other trance albums, etc. It is seriously one heck of a task. Downloaded of course. It'll cost a fortune to actually buy ALL her stuff.

You do realize that, your collection is hardly anywhere near "all" of her albums right? ='D

Also OP, just saw your post with Mio and Eri's rip links. Getting those now.
Missed it earlier since I hardly post in this thread.

[Edit] After trying out both Eri and Mio's albums, I must say, they're both great. I favor more on Eri, as her voice is very similiar to Younha, but less piano and more guitar! I particularly like her style too, with a mild touch of rock. ^^

Mio is awesome too, but too Rie Fu-like music style and with piano pieces in almost all her songs. Very suitable for light and easy listen. Pleasant voice too.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

That's about it for her proper albums. Not to mention Ayu Trance 1, 2 (that you own) and 3 is included as her Eurobeat remixes. Guess you have 4 more albums to go. =D

Yeap, it says LOVEppears on my iTunes too. I simply wrote that list off the top of my head, so..

By the way, you mentioned My Story: Classical. Personally I think that is a great arranged album too, since My Story itself is one of my favourite albums compared to the rest there. If you liked that classical album, you should look for her other acoustic remixes as well. ^^

I was speaking idiomatically.

I have Nothing From Nothing as well. It's her first so-called album, which has her featured in it along with some rap band and DJs. With her rapping in it, while rap isn't my cup of tea, it's the only rap I've heard from her. Her voice sounds really young in there, rather cute like a small kid rapping.

The songs in that album consists of:
Gut it-pez
LIMIT
NOTHING FROM NOTHING (Album version)
NOTHING FROM NOTHING (Single version)
PAPER DOLL

I believe you can get it off Jpopsuki's trackers. If you're looking to buy one, good luck. The album is quite old.

Younha and YUI aren't even in the same genre. YUI is on guitar, Younha is on crackpiano. I love both artist almost equally, with YUI first, Rurutia second, and Younha third. The main reason to listen to Younha is her incredible vocals. Really.

I was under the impression that, YUI is more on acoustic/rock, while Younha is more on mainstream pop. Their style is quite different if you listen carefully. Younha's new single is different though, as she actually changed her image into a gothic punk rocker on that single. No piano.

How ya doing, buddy?

Wait, are you saying there's a new single after Te wo Tsunaide?

[Edit] YES! Just checked. Released in a couple more days!! Strange that she switch from her gothic look back to the original.

She actually looked gothic, but she doesn't show it in her song. Her Te wo Tsunaide is still just standard rock.

YUI and Younha's new single about to be released. CAN'T WAIT!!~ Younha's single has 5 tracks instead of the standard 4 track count this time.

[edit] I almost forgot to check up on Younha's. Will get to that soon.

First of all, I'm not sure if OP or vemp already mentioned her to me, 'cause I don't remember
Also, sorry if someone already mentioned her. I didn't catch up on the thread recently.

Presenting; ayaka

These are one of the very few recommendation posts from me about new artists. I found her entirely by accident on Jpopsuki, and I swear, something unknown force made me download her debut album, First Message. I've never heard of her, and yet something just made me click on the download link, let the torrent run and I'm glad I did.

She has 4 singles thus far;
[2006.02.01] I believe - #3; 227,719 copies sold
[2006.05.10] melody~SOUNDS REAL~ - #14; 15,600 copies sold - Limited to 50,000 copies
[2006.07.19] Real voice - #11; 50,321 copies sold
[2006.09.27] Mikazuki - #1; 158,821 copies (still charting)

..and 1 of her latest debut album. All I can say is, it was lovely. Her songs gave me a great first impression, and this coming from a loyal YUI fan. Her voice is similiar to DAI's Tomiko Van and her music style is similiar to YUI's guitar oriented pieces.

So far, I've found all her works except her first single, "I believe". You can get the rest from Jpopsuki's tracker, and I really urge you to try her stuff if you like something close to Van's vocals or anything guitar oriented. This is one new artist a J-rock fan shouldn't miss.

P.S. - If anyone knows where to get "I believe" or own any of her stuff and is able to rip them first hand, please inform me as I'd love to have those. =D

P.P.S. - Still loving Yifei's stuff ever since OP recommended her a cpuple of weeks back.

XDD

I don't remember getting her name from you, but with just her first name and no caps, it can be very vague. Bloody hell, I missed your post from just a couple hours back. How observant of me.

Also good news for YUI fans~

January is still quite a long time to go though.
