I used to have it because it was on Square Enix's official website but then they removed it and replaced it with the Judges.

IIRC FFVIII just about topped that with over 1 million copies sold before the game was even released. As it stands though FFVIII has sold more copies in Japan than any other FF title.

The Square Enix conference at E3 is about to begin but in the meantime it looks like we're going to be seeing an FFXII line of figures from Play Arts/Koto:

Related note but here's a look at their Weapon line on display at E3 too:

Anyway, one thing I'm really looking forward to is an english preview of FFXII. I hope we get a chance to hear the voice actors in action, especially considering the Vagrant Story-level dialogue.

I also hope for a release date earlier than November.
It's happening now. They just announced FFXII will be released in the US this October along with some Mobile games including a Dirge of Cerberus title.

Some other announcements from Square including FFV & VI for the GBA.

Double Post:
Hefty long trailer for Final Fantasy XII being shown, all in English.
Quote:
"Sparing no expenses on the voice acting for this one--it's all appropriately haughty, in line with the tone of the story."

No, they're basically minatures and aren't very expensive. They've also got a Vehicles and Monster line too for the FF titles.

I went with Yesasia for OST myself as part of the OST/FFVII AC Reunion book discount special given that the book is both in Japanese AND English.

Well at least we have a solid release date. EBgames is already offering the 'Collector's Edition' for preorder claiming "limited quantities" but I went ahead and preordered a copy anyway.

November 1st at the latest depending on where you are but there should be no problem getting this on October 31st.

Also the press release from Square Enix makes it sound like they added new cutscenes just for the NA version:
Quote:
Features
  • Completely new voiced cut-scenes added for the North American release
  • Gorgeous CG cinematics and cut-scenes in Dolby® Pro Logic II combined with real-time graphics rivaling those of next-gen titles
  • Shocking plot twists take players on an unforgettable journey
  • Active Dimension Battle (ADB) system, enables players to move seamlessly between exploration and combat
  • Highly customizable Gambit system allows complete control over character AI during battles
  • License board gives the player the ability to customize each character's skills and abilities

See, I'm now tempted to reserve another copy of the CE because I forgot about the whole MGS3 Subsistence LE fiasco because I ended up selling my copy for over $120.

If the FFXII CE is going to be just as limited then I might be able to make a mint off of that as well.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

The official English site for FFXII is now up:
http://www.finalfantasyxii.com/

Nothing much aside from a trailer featuring a bunch of CG scenes with your typical narration and no samples of the English VO. There is a countdown on the site for when the full site will go live which according to the timer will be in 35 days.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well the moneybags for Dirge only insured that Famitsu's review for the game hit news stands after the game had hit shelves and already cashed in on the FFVII brand.

Someone over at SA claming to be a QA Tester for Square-Enix had this to say about the English localisation for FFXII:
Quote:
In the english translation, they are going to spell Magic, Magick, and the skills/techniques, Technicks. Why? I have no clue. In the game most words that end in the -c or -q sound will be spelled with -ck."
Mistnacks are also called "Mist Quickenings" which is a sight more better than 'Knacks.

You can also find pictures of other FF goodies, by Kotobukiya, there as well. Eg. FFX, FFVIII, FFVII AC play arts
Those look fucking wicked.

By far Koto's best FF work to date and I love the paint job on Vaan. I had my fingers crossed that they'd produce Judge Gabranth and lo and behold. Hopefully they produce the rest of FFXII's cast and the rest of the Judges.

FYI the new OPM has a feature on the English version of FFXII which also notes "Mist Knacks" new localisation name as "Mist Quickenings".

That's one fine packaging though and thank god it doesn't have the ugly EBgames or GameStop logo on it like other CE releases.

Also, can anyone tell me what song in the OST is playing in this trailer? I really want it.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2v3joFNYu...0XII%20trailer
Which part of the trailer? The opening fanfare and ending tune are both from the "Opening Movie" track.

Also given EBgames and GameStop's track record with LE versions of games I'd preorder a copy as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as EBgames have been taking preorders for the LE since last month.

Nope. There's the usual CG opening followed by a sort of..."Currently in Ivalice since the opening..."...prologue kind of thing before you gain control but that's not 17 minutes.

It makes me happy to hear that they're taking first priority with this game, like they did with GTA:SA. But after thinking it over, it is kind of a drag to receive the game on Halloween. I'm always on a pure horror mood that day, and between the horror marathons and answering doors for trick or treaters, I might not even play FFXII until the day after.

The clerk also tried to convince me to reserve the LE guide, saying that the supplies for the guide are even smaller than for the CE, but I don't usually like purchasing guides. I'll have to see if the bonus content is worth the price.

Any word when those FFXII figures will be available? I'd much rather pick up one of them along with the game.
That's usual standard practice though, especially with the big titles. An example being that we get our shipments every Friday before the Tuesday release dates for our DVDs and games.

Since I preordered my copy online it'll take a couple of days before I get my copy but that's no biggie. September and October are going to be bests for gaming though.

How ya doing, buddy?

Generally I never used to preorder games as I never felt there was really a need either but on several occasions been burned while trying to seek out a title in an EB store and get the now usual "Oh that game? Yeah we have plenty of copies, did you preorder?...No? Oh well sorry we only have enough to fulfill preorders" from the clerks.

Since then I've usually had alot of good luck with EB/GameStop's online stores where if you choose overnight shipping then often they'll ship the game before the release/ship date so they'll actually arrive on your doorstep the Tuesday of release. I didn't go with the overnight option with FFXII though, I figured waiting a few more days at that time won't be no problem compared to the other 4+ years of waiting for the game.

By the way have any of you checked out the official site lately? They've finally managed to open the "full site" although some of the content is still slim but best of all is a high quality version of the E3 English VO trailer:
http://www.finalfantasyxii.com/

The English dub sounds really, really solid.

You could always download the FLV file itself and just grab an easy FLV player to play the movie.

You can get the FLV file here:
http://www.finalfantasyxii.com/videofiles/

FLV player:
http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3...-10467081.html

Also while you can't view the wallpapers on the site they are on the server:

Double Post:
Regular boxart revealed for the US version:

As expected, the usual "Photoshop all your press assets into one messy image" boxart that plagues alot of US covers.

Collector's Edition FTW!!!

Hard to say since the 14 page review doesn't specifically mention the Widescreen option as it's only listed on the second page with the product information such as "Widerscreen" & "Pro Logic II".

Also it looks like it was true about some of the cutscenes where the dialogue was just text in the Japanese version being voiced over for the US release.

For some odd reason they still refer to Mist Quickenings as "Mist Knacks" and the side bars feature the typo "Inside FFXIII" but details some specifics about FFXII.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Seems there some rumblings about a FFXII side story title for the DS, at least according to this site:
http://blog.livedoor.jp/odeko_06/archives/50672010.html

The site is generally known for exclusive news on upcoming breaking news from Weekly Jump magazine or Square titles. neo2046 at GAF mentioned it and also remarked that the post had since been edited. Square ninjas in effect?
