Commence double-dipping: Square Enix announced they'll be re-releasing Advent Children on Blu-Ray in 2007 which will be more of a "Director's Cut" that'll feature new scenes and changes to existing ones.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

FYI but the Creatures line is now out in Japan. Seems Kefka is the one everyone's after.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

We got the whole order page for that deluxe version of AC last month but I only just saw it today. Images of the whole package and contents including 10 postcards, a novel which seems like an English translation of all the Denzel, Tifa, Aeris etc stuff that was posted in the Omega Ultimania or on the Japanese site.

That plus the English script along with never before seen Nomura artwork all packaged in one nice little box for February 20th, 2007.

No mention of Last Order however....

Any word on the new figures that were promised a bit back?
Nothing to my knowledge. Koto has got both the FFXII Play Arts and Mechanical Arts lines debuting in the US next month and then the FFIII line sometime later in the year but that's it.

On the subject of the AC figures though, for anyone who hasn't already purchased the Sephiroth figure then Amazing Toyz.com has it in their "Winter" sale for $12.00.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Damn, its Blu-Ray only...with all those extras I was going to preorder it today if it were for the DVD.

The extras look niiiice (is LO dubbed or just gonna be left subbed (most likely) I'll get it, open it when I have the nerve to throwdown $599 for you know what.

The cover looks gaudy, I mean, I would of liked a pic of Midgar or something rather than emo cloud making a sour face.
No, all those features and contents are for the DVD re-release next month on the 20th.

I'd imagine it'd be close to or after FFXIII's release as Koto will more likely expand the line to include more characters from the game.

This definitely deserves recognition. The same guy that did the head resculpts for numerous FF play arts (+ the Cloud sword set) made a Yuffie! Check it out! She look incredible! He's even making DoC Yuffie too! Now if only Kotobukiya could follow his lead, hell they should hire him!

Seriously awesome stuff right there. Makes me wish Koto would expand their AC/FFVII line...

Also going back to the "Deluxe" AC rubbish, yes the Last Order is included. I just overlooked where it was mentioned considering it was listed among all the special features that were already included with the original release.

Well thanks to the NY ToyFair we've got some news on upcoming Play Arts figures that Koto will be releasing later this year including more AC figures.

The next AC series of figures will include:
  • Yuffie
  • Kadaj
  • Reno

The other line will be Final Fantasy VII with updated designs to reflect the characters "realistic" look seen in AC. Series 1 from this line will consist of:
  • Cloud
  • Aeris
  • Tifa
  • Deluxe Cloud with Hardy Daytona bike boxset

Awesome news!!! About time they finally announced a series 2. Is the new FF7 line being made to coincide with the game's anniversary?

I wonder if the Yuffie by the customerizer guy was the prototype... (maybe he works for Koto?). Heh, and the FF7 line with the Aerith is nice way to knock off her character, as her appearance in AC was essentially the same. I'll definitely buying these sets!
I doubt it since the Japanese anniversary has already come and gone. I think it's more to do with popular demand, plus they've already done some figures for FFVIII & X so it'd make sense to do some for FFVII.

Yeah I found it a little funny that Yuffie was announced. Heck maybe that sculptor got himself a new job...

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Or it could be a sneak peek at the Remake.

well it COULD

I won't hide the fact that I'm very curious how they're going to do a "realistic" figure of Tifa in her original outfit. Hopefully it won't be a step backwards after her AC look.

Also, very glad Yuffie and Kadaj are finally getting their due.
Well it's basically going to be AC Tifa only in FFVII garb so it won't be too drastic a change.

Some more announcements from ToyFair including a second series of the Master Creatures line:

Series 2 includes:
  • Odin
  • Yojimbo
  • Diablos
  • Mateus The Corrupt
  • Knights Of The Round

Yep, we're finally getting a collectible figurine of the Knights Of The Round!

I've seen the Monster figurines in a local store the other day. They're much smaller than I imagined, but have quite a bit of detail (the Kefka one is just freaky looking). The $20 price was a bit steep, though. $5 or $10 cheaper and I would've bought one.
Yeah for the price and size of them they're just not worth it. $14 maybe but not $20+. That KOTOR one though is might tempting...

Quote:
That image right there is hard to picture. I think it would be great if they took the old outfits but made some updates to them, like how Cloud looked in the PS3 demo. And while I've stayed away from "boring" figures like Rinoa and Yuna, which have no real poseable joints, I might purchase the Aerith if it looks as good as her demo counterpart.
Well, it shouldn't be. I mean you see her in that costume briefly during AC's prologue.

Weren't the FFXII figures supposed to be out this month?
March. They're on display at ToyFair in a variety of poses and still look the best Koto have produced.

Considering I could care less for Kadaj and Reno is pretty boring, given it's just a dude in a suit with a pole, I'll more than likely be just picking up Yuffie if anything from the AC Play Arts Vol.2. I would of preferred Barrett, Cid and even Red XIII for the second lineup so hopefully they'll get fair treatment next.

Also for anyone interested the Cloud Masterpiece figure is up for preorder but it'll only set you back over $320....

The FFVII figures look swank as hell and personally I'm glad they don't look like their updated AC looks otherwise they'd be too similar to the Cloud and Tifa figure already out save for costume.

I saw that they're also planning on releasing Judge Gabranth's helmet as a replica too....

Christ, that's almost $40USD for those things which means I'll pretty much be passing those up just like the Mechanical Arts and Creatures line. I mean they're a novel and interesting concept but given the size of the things they hardly a warrant a $20 pricetag let alone anything near $40.

While we're on the subject of the collectibles here's a look at the finished painted sculpts for the FFVII line:

Not exactly related to FF7, but holy crap!!!!

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/se-shop/blog/

Yes they're exactly what you think they are, the ultimate/final weapons to their respective characters (Squall's Lionhart, Selphie's Strange Vision, Tidus' Caladbolg, Yuna's Nirvana, and Auron's Masamune)! No doubt that they are inscale with the Play Arts figures, they're a must buy for me!

Now it's only a matter of time before they annouce/make Cloud's fusion swords from AC as well as his Ultima Weapon from the game. Oh, could this also possibly mean a weapon for Rinoa too?!?!
If they're in scale with the Play Arts figures and meant to be additions then chances are it's a Japan only thing. Afterall they offered Japanese consumers an additional head and sword for the Cloud w/Fenrir set that came with the LE DVD package which ended up being the standard accesory for the US release.

Related but here's an image of the Aeris statue due later in the year for $200.

I might just be nitpicking, but FF7 Sephiroth doesn't look much different from AC Sephiroth at all, except for a slightly different face and less buckles on his cape/coat thing. Not sure I wanna pay the same price or more for essentially the same figure. =/

I definitely like FF7 Vincent better than AC Vincent. Looks like you'll actually be able to move his arms and put him in some decent poses. AC Vincent could barely hold out his gun.

Now where in the hell is Cid and Rufus?!
Yeah, aside from some minor sculpt changes and paint applications it's basically the AC Sephiroth and hardly warrants dropping another $25 and likewise for Vincent.

Honestly I want to see some of the other characters that haven't been done yet like Cid, Barrett and Red XIII along with expanding the FFVIII and X lines rather than getting more versions of Cloud and Tifa.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
