like a GMR Online but for rips only ?

that would be nice... and easier to code LOL so people can post others' rips. Like Reichu's rip. Cause I never got in touch with her actually... so it could be a good way to list them all. just a thought.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I would like to know if people will be more interested in a GMR-like website... I hope we'll get more replies soon... cause I'm willing to make more effort on this one instead. I already have a lot of coding already done anyway.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

@ Supersonic:

www.gmronline.com - The best video game music album database.

I'm coding in PHP.

Or if anyone else want to try it in asp instead...

---

Backup is not a problem. I can make daily backup.

OR (again, just a thought) only known rippers would get an account, so only them would be able to edit the database since it's our own work and not from companies, so it's not like if we don't know our own stuffs thus we can trust ourselves and not being worried about any vandalism of any kind.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Kaleb, is mysql ok too ? I'm more used with PHP + MySQL.

So you would need to create the database and tell me what are the infos to get connected to it.

I can stard to work on it as soon as I get more info about it Not having a girlfriend anymore is helping me too. More free time for me.

EDIT: well, huh I just realized that I can create the databse myself in php anyway LOL

I meant I can create a database on a mysql server with a script in php.

mysql_query("create database db_blabla");

@ Kaleb: I need is an username and password to connect to the mysql server via PHP

Double Post:
is it better to let certain people to have privilege to modify the database or make it simple like GMR ?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Furthermore, who needs info on a game rip of let's say Superbike 2001 when there's absolutely no place to get it.
The purpose of a gamerip directory like this is to show that a certain rip is already done. Now all we'll need would be FTPs that are willing to host the rips. Anyway, when you're adding a new rip, there's a possibility to edit it later. There will be a field for availability, so if you just add a new rip, it's obvious it won't be available right now. Then you edit later with info of where to get your rip.

How ya doing, buddy?

First of all, when I created Cubed World, it was only for my rips. Then I realize that some rippers would like to share their own gamerips too so I modified to include others' gamerips. Cause it HAD DIRECT DOWNLOAD (for the ones that think it was only a showoff list). It has details of what you've done like tracklists, composer, description field where you describe what you can't elsewhere (in others fields) etc.

If you want to share your gamerips too, it was your responsibility to ask for an account. Everybody was welcomed.

And I was working on a new version of my website, buy taking note of rippers' complaints. Like neothe0ne who was complaining for the standard I created. Standards were made to avoid any mess that it could make. Letting a big text field to give freedom to the submitter... I'm against it. Think of what it'll look like.

What I was going to do (then I'd have showed you all what I've done then you'll criticize) is when you submit a new rip, you have 2 options: STANDARD or FREESTYLE

STANDARD:
- 99 tracks max per disc
- each track should not exceed 80 min

FREESTYLE:
No tracklist limit, no time limit.

But in both modes, you have to put every single track individually. just like GMR always worked and still works fine by the way.

And I'm totally in for limit access. That's why I asked for it right in the beginning of the development process. Like Rimo said though it makes sense (moderating anonymous submissions). I'm willing to do it. As long as people show me proof of the rip existence, I'm gonna accept it.

As I said in your Lemmings PSP gamerip request, I'll have more free time, so I'll be able to continue to script for gamerips' stash website.

First I need update:
- Anonymous submission allowed ?
- Able to register freely ?
- Only me or Kaleb can add new users ?
- Gamerip submission: how to submit. Freestyle or cubed world old-fashioned way ? Or both ??

Jam it back in, in the dark.

what we would need (for the download section) is dedicated mirrors FTP. Which would only host gamerips (with a separate login if they are currently offering FTP service for their own stuffs).

@Supersonic: k3nn3dy already in the list

@neothe0ne: ..yeah. If there's only ONE ripper that did a certain rip, why not include them as well to avoid multiple request of that rip ?

@Blue_Kirby2: I knew I was missing them in the list.. ^^.... And I didn't know Joe changed his name again -_- thanks for the info.

EDIT:

Maybe I should keep both Darko and Joe Bloggs name, as some rips were done with the Darko name, some with Joe Bloggs (again to avoid multiple entries of the same rip if someone enters a Joe Bloggs rip with Darko name.. ?)

Most amazing jew boots

message to neothe0ne: For the freestyle adding method, is any format ok ? Assuming you'd simply manually type the "composers", "gamerip name", "system", "ripped by" in others text fields, all you would need is to know the format for the tracklist and you can configure foobar to display the files as you wish, right?

[Disc-Track] [Track name] [Time]

... would result of...

[3-01] [Main Theme] [3:10]

... is that ok or I totally didn't get the point ?

I was speaking idiomatically.

... that's exactly what I was talking about, just that I specified that for the moment it would only accept it the tracklisting, all other information will be entered in other text fields.

Code:
                   +-------------------------------------+
Name of the game : | |
                   +-------------------------------------+

             +-------------------------------------+
Composer(s): | |
             +-------------------------------------+

Tracklist:
+----------------------------------+--+
| |/\|
| +--+
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| +--+
| |\/|
+----------------------------------+--+
... I'm somewhat proud of myself up there ^^..... just don't burst my bubble please

EDIT

OK... I think I got what you really mean.

A field for each track like my old website, but you just won't need to separate each column (disc, track number, title, time)...

and it would create dynamically the rip has you enter new tracks..

there, let's add track number 17 from disc 3 as I missed to include it from the beginning.... I feel a bit novice here.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

bleh... Yeah I just noticed... I'll try to fix this.....

EDIT: now it adds an extra carriage return. great..

EDIT²: works fine now.... the other infos on grawl's rips aren't pleased for the eyes the way it is formatted because of the small width reserved for that column.... Should I make it pop-up on click ?

EDIT³: What? am I the only one here ? I feel lonely and I answered myself. I made a pop-up window for the other infos. Things are getting great. The website is still filling!! Now the request page.....

Double Post:
Fuck the edit.....

I really want to implement link to dedicated FTPs that are willing to host the rips. Your FTP info (not sure yet how it's gonna work) will be given on every gamerip page. It will show if your FTP is online or not and if you have that same rip. All I'm asking the ones that are willing to do it, is to create a folder in your FTP root called, let's say "The Rippers' Stash". All subfolders should ideally named like they are called in the database. Because I'm not a PHP senior programmer, the heck I know about dynamic search for such task if you change the location and the names.

Or maybe I simply put your FTP info on the pages, so the user will have to check himself to see if you have it or no. Either way, I need an answer.

Double Post:
Request page now online. SuperSonic, I'm gonna use your thread to fill the request page
