I am definitely glad to finally see the light at the end of a very long tunnel with this game. While some will snicker they are replicating the gameplay experience offline of FFXI it still will be an amazing experience to actually experience the lore and scope of the world Matsuano has crafted. I can only hope the battle system will be much more refined as far as the camaras and action itself than from the demo in DQVIII. Only element I am not that excited about.

Is this a FFXII thread or how to mod your PS2 thread lol? Anyway its disappointing for them to be releasing it so late in the year but knowing their history it shouldn't be a shock they hold their best game for an optimal selling period. I highly doubt PS3 being released will have any effect since the fans will still buy the game no matter what. All i care about is they have an excellent localization and smooth out whatever edges existed on the Japanese version. Like possibly adding Widescreen support.

So are gamestop stores selling this in store yet? I only ask cause there are people posting they received their copies in the mail already.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Without spoiling it obviously was it akin to FFVII where it was open ended and left you with a bad taste or just bad in general where it was cliche and felt rushed?

I have the same feelings as most of the recent people. I came into the game expecting as far as plot something much different than what we received. They built a very gritty and engaging Ivalice but it felt like they invested their time with the ingredients of the world and background and the charaters got overshadowed. The VA and localization and language is by far the most superior of any FF or any recent rpg but as I begin the penultimate dungeon I don't feel the tension and emotional attachment as you should. And from what I hear the ending won't resolve the disassociation much.
As far as licences go I was thinking throughout the game why they simply didn't just allow you only to gain points if your average party level is under the enemies you fought. Seemed kind of lame to allow someone to own low level areas as a cheap way to acquire what should be valuable LP points. This might have possibly not allowed for everyone to max out their board well before the end of the game and the world had enough scalable areas where you wouldn't run out of enemies to fight to gain the points. This way you are focussing on specializing your characters versus having everyone be able to cast every spell and wield every weapon. I was speaking idiomatically. |
If you have no luck getting Deathbringer early you can always buy it late in the game.
