EA Mythic.
Hmm. If it weren't for EA completely ruining Ultima Online, I might consider trying this game out. But I just can't put any faith in companies that EA has their fingers around. Jam it back in, in the dark.
<@a_lurker> I like zeal better than guru.
<@a_lurker> There, I said it, I'm not taking it back. |
This game is pretty fun. I plan on playing it for a while, at least until WOTLK comes out.
I really like how it's a little more casual-friendly than WoW (less heavy-raid focused, and more realm vs. realm focused). Although it really seems like it could use some of the polish that WoW has. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Mo0, unfortunately the beta client is just going to be patched and people can use that as their retail client (as long as they enter the retail codes on the website once they get them).
So if you're having performance issues, you're probably going to keep having them. Although I know performance is something that Mythic has said that they're constantly working on to improve. I've noticed that the performance has increased substantially from closed beta -> preview weekend -> preview weekend -> open beta. However, Mythic is not Blizzard, and they can't seem to make games as stable as Blizzard (can anybody?) so I don't know how much you want to get your hopes up. The servers are only going to be more crowded when the game goes live. BTW for whoever asked, I'm playing a Bright. They're pretty awesome. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
This game is getting a little bit better the more time Mythic has to flesh out the bugs. I know it seems like the early adopters are suffering through the true "beta test" phase, and I can't deny that...but it's headed in the right direction. It's unfortunate that the title got rushed, but there are enough players sticking around to keep it going for a while.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I think once Mythic get around to making keep sieges (and defending) more valuable of a timesink than doing scenarios, the game will be great. The PvE content is pretty solid, if you're in a guild that can do runs through Lost Vale and regular city dungeons.
I think the frustration people have expressed with the game is that the main promise -- RvR -- has really been one of the weaker aspects of the game thus far. But if anyone played DAoC can remember, Mythic knows how to do keep sieging, even if it may take them a while to get it just right. I was speaking idiomatically. |
