When a person or group endorses a candidate, it's assumed that the candidate in turn supports that group's interests. See, it's understood that lobby money is a roundabout legal form of bribery - we pay to get you in office, you look after our interests once you're there. This is also why a lot of people are not too impressed with Hillary claiming to be different from the Republicans and then cheerfully taking campaign money from anybody even vaguely connected to the Democratic party.
