I'm going to have to disagree with you there. In Lego Star Wars, you'd have a different set of characters for each level, in Story Mode, so it wasn't only for replay value that the size of the cast came into play. The characters were divided up into groups with different abilities, which helped introduce some variation into the game. It was common enough to play as several different characters in the course of a single level.

Yeah, but who actually used all those different characters? If you liked playing the Jedi characters, you'd use Luke, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, etc on every level you could. You only functionally had three characters anyway - lightsaber guy, blaster guy, and useless tagalong guy with a special ability you need. The only real difference is that one blaster guy was Han, and one was Chewie, and you picked based on that.
For me, it's going to be mind-boggling to be beating up Lego Nazis. The very concept seems sacreligious. Still, it should be pretty funny seeing how Traveler's Tales handles the storylines. Vader's death scene in Lego Star Wars II was beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing what exactly they do with the high priest in Temple of Doom - will it kill their E rating to have him ripping out Lego hearts?
Jam it back in, in the dark.
