yes... using the hdmi output on the PS3would be sending out a digital signal...

HOWEVER - from what i've found though:

there IS DVI-A (analog), as well as DVI-D (digital) and DVI-I (integrated).
so if you are trying to hook up DVI-A into a digital setup, it won't work and vice versa...

unfortunately, this isn't my issue.
I think it might be that my sets are not HDCP compatible... but i haven't been able to confirm...

i've been emailing product supports to get some answers...
i'll post results here in case they're some help to anyone else...
That's what I'm thinking. I have no idea why they did this, but the PS3's HDMI output is HDCP protected. A display device without HDCP compliance won't get a signal.

I'm assuming it works with the supplied cables that came with the PS3. Is that the case?

BTW, what's the make and model of the sets you're trying to get this to work on. I could look around for you.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

i've heard the max u can get out of component is 780p... but then i've also heard that the ps3 looks better at 780 than at 1080 anyways?

gotta get me some component cables tomorrow!
Component can output 1080p just fine, though I think it's at 24 rather than 60. Any owners out there with component cables want to give it a shot?

How ya doing, buddy?

well some moron busted one of my tv's (sans HDCP) so i got a replacement that was compatable...

so i'm running my ps3 at 1080i and i have to say i'm stunned...
STUNNED!!

i can see the dimples on my golf ball when it's flying through the air...

crazy!

Congrats, tommy. Hopefully you'll feed it more HD material (games, movies, trailers) as time goes on.

You didn't... intentionally break it so you could get a replacement, did you?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
