well, since this is going to be desktop replacement here are my minimum recommendations:
memory: 512mb hard drive:60gb graphics:integrated optical drive: dvd-rom wlan:any and here's my recommended specifications: memory:512mb -1gb hard drive:80gb graphics:integrated, still (you don't need an uber powerful graphics card, not for what he wants to do) optical drive :dvd=-rw DL wlan:any processor at the very least should be centrino. you don't need dual core to watch a movie, and I can multi task just fine with a single core processor. Jam it back in, in the dark.
