Hooray for Zorn!
Anyone like Ghoul? I like Ghoul. Kind of old-school death metal with some thrash and hardcore punk influences. Nice stuff. Lyrics are pretty fucking hilarious too. How ya doing, buddy? |
I feel like downloading/buying/checking out some power metal bands and albums. Any suggestions?
I'm not really keen on huge/bombastic/epic orchestral/keyboard sections though. Most amazing jew boots |
I'll check 'em out.
Also, there's something really enjoyable about late 80's - early 90's Scandinavian death metal. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I prefer later Darkthrone, for some reason. Probably because of the more punk/rock-ish sound they have now. I really like their Transilvanian Hunger and Panzerfaust albums, though. tr00 and kvlt and etcetc

Alright, thanks! I'm quite sure I've heard some Jag Panzer tracks before, good shit.

Long time no see, metal thread. <3
Anyway, any recommendations in regards to good death metal bands? Preferably ones that don't blast endlessly from start to finish. I have enough of those. Maybe something like Funebre and/or Unleashed? FELIPE NO |
Speaking of Nile, how's their new album?
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ahaha, Torture Squad FUCKING OWNS. And Bolt Thrower too. <33333 BT. Jam it back in, in the dark.

Holy fuck, Dismember is fucking awesome.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I obtained (ok, downloaded) Arghoslent's 2008 album "Hornets of the Pogrom" and I'm listening to it as I type this. It's quite enjoyable, actually. I like the riffage.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Oh. Sure.
Arghoslent - Hornets of the Pogrom (I don't know how to do that 'hidden content' thing or whatever, sadly) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
They do know how to write some killer riffs, don't they? I hear that their album before this one ("Incorrigible Bigotry") is full of even better riffs, but I haven't been able to track that one down yet.

I got the new Turisas album recently, and, while it's perhaps not as over the top as Battle Metal (which was, like, HOLY SHIT SO MUCH STUFF) it's actually quite an enjoyable album regardless. I'm not sure if it's better or worse, but it's definitely enjoyable.

Yeah, Battle Metal is probably the album I prefer, but there are some very nice moments throughout The Varangian Way as well. The last track is quite ace, I have to say. The riffing seems to be a bit better overall, too. I should re-listen to Battle Metal though.

And, on the topic of that dude (Al, I presume) from Om, I actually enjoy his vocals. Greatly. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
