Nah, it was confirmed in an interview somewhere (RPGLand maybe?) that they kept the Japanese version for the opening this time.

Yay, other people who enjoy Minstrel Song too. We are truly a rare breed. One of the rare RPGs I beat and then had an overwhelming sensation to replay and beat a second time.
I'm not sure if I want to start on Wild Arms yet, or finish Persona 3 first. At the rate I'm going I may not finish it for awhile, so maybe I should just go ahead and play both intermittently. :'( Most amazing jew boots |
Wild Arms 5 is a fair deal longer than 4 so don't worry too much about that. I think 5 is supposed to be 40 or so, longer if you do all the sidequests.
I don't think you're quite halfway done with WA4 either. I think I clocked in about 29 hours with 4 and I was moving at a pretty brisk pace. It's possible though, maybe I left the game on a few times and forgot, but I'm pretty sure you'll wind up at 25~30. Somewhere in there. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You're not near the end, you're maybe a bit past half, though it's hard to gauge cause I'm not sure how many side quests you are bothering to do. Either way, that's no where near the end. The game is considerably longer than 4 was to say the least.

It's not that hard, you can level people like carol, and whoever else you rarely use to 40~45 (in the optional dungeons with a lucky card/monopoly card you can do this all in a single battle for one character) and use their levels for level 20 apples and work with those to get the items you want, not to mention easily max everyone out when you are done. It's a little time consuming, but it shouldn't take more than a few hours.

Yeah, the game seems to fly pretty fast until you get near the end, at which point it definitely becomes a much longer game than you're expecting to be. I was happy, though, I really didn't want it to end in under 30 hours like IV did.
The storyline wasn't bad but I admit the way it was handled was pretty corny. Corny doesn't have to mean "bad" though, just "corny". I liked it well enough and the cast of characters (aside from Carol...) were good enough for me. Greg especially. All in all, this comes close to Persona 3 for me for best RPG of the year so far. Plenty of extra shit to do and a reasonably long main quest. Two important things I look for in my RPGs. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
I had just noticed that the EX File logs the lowest level you beat the game at and the fastest time too. I hate when games do that, because then I feel compelled to challenge them. I could just rush right through though, I managed to get everything the first time in about 80 hours. Nine Lives costume is adorable. Love the way they play Knightblazer's theme for normal battles when you wear it. Eheh.

All you'll miss out on this game is the meaning behind the extra costumes and the cameos. They don't outright name the cameos their actual names anyway, and you can enjoy the costumes when you get them just cause they look neat and have good stat boosts.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
You forgot to affirm to us that your opinion is fact by reminding us you have excellent taste in video games.

That's weird since Dean has the double critical skill and finest arts ignores defense. The norm for level 100 without any sort of combo chain influencing the damage is probably about 15k, but even all the way down in the 50s I think Dean was managing at least 8000 damage for me. You can try to manipulate the turn order so that Dean goes the last of your three characters (give the others speed skates or the like) to rack up some chain damage and maybe use Avril with a violator if you can go make one to possibly inflict some extra DP damage for extra turns (to lengthen the chains sometimes).
Otherwise you'll just have to go level up somewhere. If you can survive a single fight in the abyss you can level up very rapidly there (55~100 in under 2 hours) but I'm not sure if you want to do that before you beat the game or not. I know I waited to level up and do the super bosses until I had already seen the ending once... but eh, not everyone is like that. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Nobody else likes Chuck with his damage up skill and a 100% orange user to keep reviving him at 100 hp? He's actually about as strong as Dean that way; which is a feat cause Dean is typically in a class of his own. =P
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I guess I don't see the point, since a 100% Orange user is already basically invincible. Throw on a Terrace Tiara and you have a un-killable infinite reviver so Dean and Chuck can just go to town on the enemies. They really weren't thinking too hard when they made that badge.... cheapest badge ever. =P
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
